General
In order to ensure a reliable and efficient performance of your KOMATSU
Excavator, the PM-CLINIC SERVICE should be carried out through
authorized KOMATSU Dealer every 1000 operating hours.

Items which have to be checked


The items which have to be checked during the PM-CLINIC SERVICE are
listed in the attached PM-CLINIC DATA SHEETS.
The measured values have to be entered into the column ”Actual Values” and
confirmed by marking S for satisfied or U for unsatisfied.

Handling of the PM-CLINIC DATA SHEETS


After all items have been checked, fill out the PM-CLINIC DATA SHEETS.
and send the original to our Service Department.

leaks and abnormal noise and confirm the result by
marking

If the result is unsatisfied, please attach suitable
information material (photos, catalogue drawings
etc.) showing the location and describe nature of
the abnormality.

12. Cycle Time Inspection 2
• Check throttle valve setting during initial test and write it down. Count the number of turns from
the bottom stop position.
• For all further test’s confirm that the initial setting was not changed.
• Use a stop watch to measure the cycle time.
• Start both motors.
• Select menu item “Power Check” according to operation manual.
• Carry out all tests with empty bucket.
• Rapidly move the control lever to the respective end position (start the stop watch) and hold it
until the final position of the movement is reached. (stop the stop watch).
• Watch the respective pressure and write down the minimum and maximum value.
• Fill in the measured time in the column actual value.
• Confirm the result by marking:
s = satisfied (within the tolerances) or u = unsatisfied (out-of-tolerance)

14. Power Check 3
• If the machine is cool, warm it up completely.

• Select menu item “Power Check” according to
operation manual.
• Read the following values from the Text-
Display .
Alternatively connect suitable pressure gauges
to check points M5-1 and M5-2 for X1-1,X1-2
pressure and M11.1, M11.2, M11.3, M11.4 for
the main pump pressure (p1 – p8).

• Motor Current:
- Cooler fans running with max. speed

- Pedals and lever in neutral position


- Make sure that the main pumps in Qmax , (carry
out one function only for a short time to
eliminate the pause time control).
- Read the Motor current from the Text-Display

• Supply Tension:
- Read the tension from the analog gauge.

• X1-1, X1-2 Pressure:


- Make sure the change over valves (253.1 and
254.1) are in position E (electronic pump
regulation).
- Read the X1-1 and X1-2 pressure.
- Fill in the actual values

• Confirm the results by marking


s = satisfied or
u = unsatisfied

Alternative connect suitable pressure gauges to
the check point
Alternatively connect suitable pressure gauges
to check points M5-1 and M5-2 for X1-1,X1-2
pressure and M11.1, M11.2, M11.3, M11.4 for
the main pump pressure (p1 – p8).
1. Peak value:
• Start both motors.
• Create max. pressure to all pumps with the
function “bucket curl” in final position.
(all pumps engaged).
• Adjust the Main Relieve Valves (MRV) of
control block I, II, III and IV to the peak value
pressure (nominal value e.g. 172 bar).
• Read the X1-1, X1-2 pressure and the motor
current Imot1, Imot2 (display designation: M1 and
M2).
• Write down the actual values.

2. Regulation and pressure cut off check:


• With the same condition as Item 1. Peak value
increase the MRV’s in steps to 280 bar, 290 bar,
300 bar and finally to the nominal setting.
• At each step read the X1-1, X1-2 pressure and
the motor current.
• Write down the actual values.

• Confirm the result by marking

u = unsatisfied

15. Operating pressure 5 • If the machine is cool, warm it up completely.

• Read the following values from the Text-

Alternatively connect suitable pressure gauges
to check points M11.1, M11.2, M11.3 and
M11.4 for the main pump pressure p1 – p8
(control block I, II, III and IV).

• Extent respectively retract the cylinders of the
selected function completely and hold the
control unit in end position.
• Read the respective pressure.
• Fill in the actual values.
• Confirm the result by marking:
s = satisfied or u = unsatisfied

16. Pilot pressure 5 • Select the analog X2-pressure page in menu


item “Analog input” according to operation
manual.
• Start only one motor. Do the test separately for
both motors.
• Read the “X2-pressure” at the display.
Alternatively Connect a suitable pressure
gauges ( 0 to 60 bar) to test point M1.2.
• Fill in the actual value.

• Confirm the results by marking:


s = satisfied (within the tolerances) or
u = unsatisfied (out-of-tolerance)

17. Back Pressure Valve 5 • If the machine is cool, warm it up completely.
• Connect a suitable pressure gauges
( e.g. 0 to 25bar) to test point M15.
• Start both motors.
• Make sure that the main pumps are in Qmax
(eliminate pause time control).
• Read the “Back-pressure” at the pressure gauge.
• Fill in the actual value.
• Confirm the results by marking:
s = satisfied (within the tolerances) or
u = unsatisfied (out-of-tolerance)

18. Undercarriage 5 • Move R.H. track group backward respectively


forward, until the contact area sprocket tooth (0)
and the track-pad lug (0) is in the illustrated
position and make a photo.
• Repeat the procedure on the L.H. track group.
• Make a visual inspection at the whole
undercarriage and confirm the results by marking:
s = satisfied (within the tolerances) or
u = unsatisfied (out-of-tolerance)
