Arctic-Monkeys – famous rock band from the 00s

The Arctic Monkeys are an English band formed in mid-2002 by friends Alex, Matt and
Andy. Alex and Matt were childhood friends and met Andy in school. Alex, who had grown up
in a musical household as his father was a music teacher, played guitar in the then-instrumental-
only band. Their music came to national attention in 2005.

They were heralded as one of the first bands to come to public attention via the Internet,
with commentators suggesting they represented the possibility of a change in the way in which
new bands are promoted and marketed.

The band's global recognition increased with their fifth album “AM”, which was
supported by the hit “Do I Wanna Know?”. It topped four Billboard charts and was certified
platinum in the US. Their album, “Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not”, became the
fastest-selling debut album in UK chart history.

The first time I’ve heard them, a year ago, I was amazed by their talent and I’ve been
listening to them daily. They used to be really good. I don't hate their recent stuff, but it's
nowhere near as original and exciting as their first album.
