SOCIAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP LOGBOOK
By Maria Listya Puspitarini 19021213
Entering the social entrepreneur class made me realize what

social entrepreneurs are and why they are important. What I

learned is that social entrepreneurs are important because

they address critical social issues with innovative solutions,

often filling gaps left by the public and private sectors. Their

work leads to sustainable social change, economic

opportunities, and empowerment of communities.

After the second week we were given the task of analyzing

social entrepreneurs that have been created in various

countries around the world, the following week we were

invited to visit the Teras Hijau Project in the Pasteur area,

Bandung, West Java. At Teras Hijau Project, or THP for short,

we were introduced to the empowered mothers who run the

social enterprise, one of whom is Mrs. Dewi. Through Bu Dewi,

not only were we invited to tour the location but we were also

explained about the products that have been marketed and

are being developed. These products range from food and

beverages consisting of seblak, kebabs, butterfly pea tea,

chamomile flower tea, chili oil dumplings, to a variety of

drinks sold at the Pawon Sareng stall. In addition to food and

beverages, there are also handicrafts made from beads that

cannot be shown at that time. Then what interested me and

some of us the most was the soap and candles that utilize

ecoenzyme and used cooking oil.

Why I say that is interesting, because the resulting benefits

are not only good for the community's income but also the

environment. By utilizing ecoenzyme and used cooking oil, the

community can further contribute to good and beneficial

waste management.

At that time, we also found a gap that could be developed for

related products. That is, giving perfume or fragrance to soaps

and candles as well as attractive packaging and branding so

that it can attract more people to buy. During the discussion,

Ms. Dewi agreed to the development. Finally, Vania Sarah,

Ambarin Syaqufa, and I were determined to realize the

development.

At the meeting two weeks later, we returned to THP. However,

there was a new update that we were asked to focus on

thrifting clothes and bazaar for THP. Because of this update, it

seemed that our small group had to change our focus to the

bazaar and only candle making. Soap making had to be

postponed because the oil refining process would take a long

time and we and the THP ladies were afraid we wouldn't have

time.

From the meeting, my classmates and I decided to discuss and

divide the tasks, my own part was product design and

publicizing for thrifting and bazaar purposes. One of the

designs that I have made can be seen in the documentation

page after this page.

Hence our next plan is to develop candles and if possible

soaps made from ecoenzyme into an attractive purchase

while also concepting and realizing the bazaar for Teras Hijau

Project.
