Type JP150 Expansion Joint Guides

Specification Electro-galvanised carbon steel low friction
expansion joint slide guide assembly.
Connections - Multiple connection options from
M10 to 1”.

Application Stourflex Expansion Joint Guides are designed

to accommodate movement in pipework and
associated equipment the guide also prevents
buckling or squirming due to the forces created
when expansion joints are used.
Stourflex slide guides are designed for ceiling,
wall or floor mounting and are fixed to the
building structure with M10, M12 anchors.

Design Primarily Stourflex JP150 Expansion Joint All JP150 Expansion Joint Guides are available with the

Complete range of pipe clamps is available to suit ABS, PVC, CPVC, Copper,
Stainless Steel and Carbon Steel Pipework

Pipework containing expansion joints must be securely anchored and adequately

guided to ensure the correct performance of the system. Omitting anchors and
guides may result in failure of the system.

Stourflex expansion joint guides should be installed in accordance with our fitting
instructions.

Installation, Operation and Maintenance Instructions

for Expansion Joint Guides

Maximum - When threaded rod is used the rod length should not exceed 55mm to ensure its maximum performance and to
Rod Length prevent bending moments being applied.
108mm & - Guides over 108mm should either use a direct connection or use the supplied locknut to lock off the ½” BSP thread
Above on the slide element

Guiding - Stourflex JP150 Expansion Joint Guides should not be used as part of a long drop from the slab or channel (see
Advice maximum rod length above), frames should be utilised to reduce the rod length and not long pieces of rod between
the slide and the clips, the long thread introduces bending moments into the installation which may cause the slide to
lock up instead of sliding smoothly. These frames can be supplied by Stourflex, please contact us for further
information.
Best - When being used in tall risers with larger axial expansion joints at higher pressures, we recommend the use of 6
Practice Guides per expansion joint spaced at 4, 8 and 14 pipe diameters instead of the typical 4 guides spaced at 4 and 14
pipe diameters. This helps prevent squirming in the bellows caused by the use of high pressures axial bellows.
- To achieve the lowest possible anchor forces in an axial expansion joint installation, JP150 expansion joint guides
should be used to support the whole pipe run taking advantage of their very low friction coefficient.
