ABSTRACT
Aging is natural biological phenomenon occurs as we are growing older with the progression of time. Healthy life,
nutritious diet, regular exercise and stress free life is most important for a young life and to delay the cell aging process.
Traditional herbs are key ingredients to cure the premature cell aging and death. There are several plants species and
animal products that we usually taken in our regular diet have lots of good qualities to prevent skin ageing and looks
younger. Nowadays, Anti-aging become a new specific area of research in which the researchers focused on the problem
related to cell aging, death and their treatment by using natural remedies. They focused on the photochemical disorders
cause by UV radiation, mutagens and mechanism to delay the aging process at molecular and genetic level.

I. INTRODUCTION

Ageing is a process of becoming older; it refers to single cells inside organism which have cellular senescence. There are
many factors that play a vital role in causing a premature ageing that is telomeric shortening, lack of nutrition, hormonal
stress, glycation, oxidative stress, chronological age, UV radiations etc (Fig.1 )(Martin et al., 1993). Normally, skin the
damage cause by the sun rays is a number one cause of the wrinkles, age spots and other forms of discoloration are
seriously exacerbate by the sun UV rays (Rittié and Fisher, 2015). The simultaneous effects are seen after the use of harsh
acne treatments over a long period of years (Kammeyer and Luiten, 2015; Panich et al., 2016). Chronic and high level of
stress may also leads to the aging. People with the overwhelmed level of stress are tends to have illness and which create
the aging of the skin (Burokas et al., 2017).

At a cellular level ageing is apoptosis caused by the shorting of telomeric region in the dividing cell (Harley et al., 1990;
Hayflick, 2007; Miller et al., 2011). It is concerned that these modification, arises among the attainment of adulthood and
the loss of life of the individual (Mroczek and Spiro, 2005; Erber, 2013). The study of aging process is known as
Biogerotology. In this field, researcher identified the different molecular pathways and their stimulating factors for the
controlling the cellular aging (Rattan, 2000). Delaying the aging method by some years may want to offer a numbers of
social benefits because the population around the globe grows increasingly older (Juengst et al., 2003; Chopra, 2015)

In our daily dietary sources, there is very promising bio-active or anti-aging compounds are present (Si and Liu, 2014;
Gupta et al., 2019). These compounds stimulate the cell repair pathways for delaying the natural cell aging, mutation and
apoptosis (Masoro et al., 1989; Korać and Khambholja, 2011; Pan et al., 2012). The main natural anti-ageing skin care
ingredients which plays a vital role in process of suppressing the effect the ageing and free-radical formation are
Niaciamide, Hyaluronic acid (eggshell membrane), kojic acid, Vitamin C (citrus fruits), Antioxidants, α–Hydroxy acids,
Charcoal, Sugar (polysaccharides) (Corrêa et al., 2018; Martel et al., 2019) . The major component of preventing the
effect of ageing is Anti-oxidants. It plays an important role in delaying the ageing process and the basic need of
antioxidants are complete through our diet plan mean from our daily consumed food (Browden, 2009; Zhang and Tsao,
2016).

II. ANTIOXIDANTS BIO-SOURCES

In cell aging or death mechanism, cellular components are oxygenated and generation of free radicals occurs, which will
result in damage of genetic material of cellular machinery. Naturally, cell biology of our body has repairing mechanism to
correct all these errors or irregulated pathways and assemble itself normally. Anti-oxidants components stimulate the cell
to repair and build itself naturally (Giampapa, 2004; Dhar, 2009). Therefore, we need a power booster ingredients such as
anti-oxidative foods and vegetables have a specific anti-ageing property (Table 1) (Shahidi and Ambigaipalan, 2015).
Some other natural plants are given below which also shows anti-ageing properties and gives an effective result after
applying regularly.

Tomato
Tomato is a red berry of plant Solanum lucopersicum (Hobson and Grierson, 1993). It is rich in lycopene which help in
prevent the cell aging (Hong and Bei, 2005). Lycopene has strong antioxidant and anticancer activity helps to prevent the
free-radical generation and reduce cell aging (Story et al., 2010). Processed tomato juice contain higher amount of
lycopene than the raw (Ciriminna et al., 2016). The lycopene absorbed by the within skin pores helps to reduced the
harmful effects to mitochondrial DNA and make flawless skin (Singh et al, 2004). Clinically investigation done by the
Dermatologist proved that tomato paste could help guard against sunburn and solar brought on pores and skin ageing.
(Mendhekar et al., 2017).

Garlic
It is a species belong to onion genus called as Allium sativum. It is potentially used as herbal remedy having antiseptic,
anti-oxidative and antimicrobial properties. Clinically, garlic extract is used for the treatment of various medicinal
problems such as intestinal, respiratory and skin infection (Santus et al., 2018). It helps to slows down hardening of the
arteries to prevent strokes and heart attacks. Allicin, the major compound in raw garlic have wrinkle preventing property
(Jaiswal et al., 2017). Although, it was reported that the synergistic effect of garlic extract with Vitamin C helps to
stimulate the collagen production (Kim, 2016). A weight loss program that includes raw garlic dosage helps to reduce the
wrinkles and fine traces on aging skin (Haliwell, 1994; Jeon et al., 2013)

Nuts and seeds


In biology nuts term is refer to pyrene or pyren. Nuts and seeds are higher sources of minerals- selenium, zinc; Vitamins-
vitamins B1,B2, B3 and E and essential fatty acids (Tucker, 2016). Selenium helps for regulation of enzymatic activity;
for the proliferation of healthy cells and synthesis of neo-collagen, regulation of thyroid hormone action in body
(Alexiadou and Katsilambros, 2011; Bodnar et al., 2012). They are richer sources of phytoestrogens, isoflavones, ellagic
acid and flavonoid (Rusu et al., 2018).

The lipid content present in nuts and seed oil reducing the free-radical generation and prevent the fatty content from rancid
too quickly (Golz-Berner and Zastrow, 2011).

Turmeric
Turmeric (Curcuma longa) is commonly used food ingredient used as spices or flavouring agent (Tayyem et al., 2006).
The chemical constituents: curcumin; sesquiterpines; zingiberene; phellandrene; sabinene; cineol, borneol have
antimicrobial, antioxidant and anti-cancerous properties (Ruby et al., 1995; Chattopadhyay et al., 2004). It acts as
protective layer over the cell or tissue to protect them from harmful ultraviolet (UV) radiation and toxic pollutant (Chan et
al., 2003). The phytochemical extracts potentially inhibit the free-radicals generation and inhibit the activity of elastase
enzyme to strength of tissue matrix protein (Thring et al., 2009). Recent, studies repoted that the turmeric extract also
reduce incidence of “Alzheimer’s disease and degenerative brain condition.(Roth GS et al,2001)

Aloe Vera:
Aloe Vera is a plant species widely used in cosmetics and pharmaceutical products (Reynolds and Dweck, 1999; Eshun
and He, 2004.). Commercially, the plant extract of pulpy juice is used to protect from the harmful radiation ans sun burn.
(Roth et al., 2001; Surjushe et al., 2008). It helps to prevent the skin damage and retain the moisture content of the cells,
which provide soothing and cooling impact on skin. The different constituents present in Aloe-vera extract are
anthraquinones, salicylic acid, saponins, sterols, and vitamins; monosachharides and polysaccharides; amino acids and
enzymes; lignin fibers and minerals (Shelton, 1991). In vitro cell culture studies proved that the aloe-vera enhanced the
proliferation of fibroblast cell and deposition of collagenous matrix (Bensouilah et al, 2006).

Multani mitti
It is also known as fuller’s earths. In a traditional remedy used for making the beauty mask for th fawless and soothing skin
(Menagh, 1999; Yadav and Yadav, 2015). It helps absorb the excess oils from the skin and tighten it from the glowing ,
wrinkle free skin (Verma et al., 2010). Despite that it is used as natural moisturizers for the softing of hairs, to remove acne
marks and sunburn, unclog skin pores and removal the dirt for them (Pareek et al., 2012; Panda, 2000).

Citrus fruit
Citrus fruits such as oranges also have an indispensable role in the maintenance of anti-aging feature of the skin
corresponding to their considerable vitamin C content. Furthermore, they are also employed as a safe preservative due to
its natural antibacterial and antioxidant properties (Zou et al., 2016). Citrus fruit juices such as lemon and grapefruit are
prominent in assisting of lightening of age spots, exfoliate, and to normalize the skin coloring (Kim et al., 2018).

Eggshell membrane (ESM)


Apart from naturally available anti-aging fruits or herbs the best collagen restoring food are Egg. It’s a common dietary
source of protein that has antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, properties and, applied externally for beauty to reduce fine
wrinkles and lines (Yoo et al., 2014). The egg shell membrane powder is a rich source of collagen and GAGs
(Glycoaminoglycans), which plays a vital role in anti-aging (Zhao et al., 2009; Armand, 2010). ESM is an organic
substance that has been attributed to the elevation of cellular activity and collagen production (Sah and Rath, 2016). In
addition to their property of generation of collagen, they are also exclusively involved in the anti-aging of skin by
minimizing the effects of UV-light and inflammation (Park et al., 2012). It has been mainly recommended to be included
in formulations for moisturizer, wound recovery, skin growth, and anti-wrinkle agent (Armand, 2010).

Other than healthy dietary sources, healthy life style is one of the most important factors to control the premature or early
aging. One of the best remedy of anti-aging treatment is “Yoga and Meditation” (Brown and Gerbarg, 2009; Tolahunase et
al., 2017). Anti-aging at a quantum level has supposed to have its great impact as compare to involve the dietary things in
your lifestyle because meditation not only help you in looking younger and glowing from outside but it also help you to be
younger from inside or from your mental level (Mackenzie and Rakel, 2006; Beri, 2016).

III. Conclusion:
In this way, this review furnishes a rundown of the plants with guaranteed or potential application for anti-aging natural
resources. In our daily life skin is affected by high pollution and harmful UV radiation that reduce the cell life (Cavinato et
al., 2017). Thus, the need of restoring their natural content are increased rapidly and using the highly chemical based
cosmetics can lead to the skin damage and tends to shows sign of early ageing (Panda, 2000). Therefore, the organic
products, containing nature bioactive components are beneficial and safe of our skin. There are many plants which contain
bioactive compounds that protect the skin from ageing effects and other health problems. Natural herbs act as effective
remedies for delaying the ageing process (Heyam et al., 2018). Therefore, the maximum use of natural or organic skin care
product in our daily routine life not only helps to look our skin fabulous but also prevent it from harmful skin disorders.
