So, today I want to introduce you to an extraordinary young man called Kelvin Doe,
who became relevant for his remarkable achievements during his teenage years.

Kelvin Bokai Doe was born on 26 October 1996 in Sierra Leone, a country in West
Africa. He was raised alone by his mother since his father abandoned them. Doe
comes from a small area of Freetown where electricity and water shortages are
common.

From an early age he showed an unrivaled curiosity for technology and a remarkable
aptitude for innovation. He taught himself how to repair radios, generators and other
electrical appliances.

Slide 3:

During his teenage years, he used to collect scrap metal and other discarded items
to create his own devices. He often dismantled broken electronic equipment and
used the parts to build something new.

When he was 12, he decided to create his own radio station. He used discarded
equipment, including a mixer, a microphone and a transmitter, to build a functional
radio station that operated from his bedroom. He broadcast music and news to his
community, and his station quickly became popular. He soon became known as ‘DJ
Focus’ and his radio station became a valuable source of information and
entertainment for the people of Freetown.

One of his other notable creations was a generator made from scrap metal and parts
he found in rubbish dumps, which he used to switch on the lights in his
neighborhood.

Kelvin has won awards such as the Global Minimum Innovator of the Year award and
the MTV Europe Music Generation Change Award. He is also the youngest person to
take part in the ‘Visiting Practitioner's Programme’ at the Massachusetts Institute of
Technology .
 He is also the founder of the Kelvin Doe Foundation, a non-profit organization that
works with strategic partners dedicated to providing creative spaces to foster
communities, stimulate a culture of innovation and inspire civic engagement.

In conclusion, Kelvin Doe's story is an inspiring example of what can be achieved

with determination and resourcefulness. His story shows us that no matter how
challenging our circumstances may be, we can still find ways to make a positive
impact on the world.
