So, we begin June with a fresh start, so
to speak. The Church calls this time
period “Ordinary Time.” The liturgical

growth. We can look at this time as

and life. Or we can focus on doing the

the phrase from the Reformation: “The
Church Reformed and Always
Reforming.” All throughout history,
Christians have noticed the world and
culture changing, but God, as was prom-
ised and fulfilled at Pentecost, is still
involved. God is always moving the
faithful forward, closer and closer to his
ideal manner of living. Because of our
sin and brokenness, we know we will
never fully reach that goal until Jesus
returns. But we press on and continue
trying as we listen to the spirit leading us.
We can all see how the world has
changed since the time of Christ by
looking at history. No, the world is far
from perfect, but we see humanity
learning and growing all the time. Human
Rights in general is a good example. In
this country women’s rights were a
significant milestone, as was the abolition
of slavery.
The time may be called ordinary, but
our God is far from that! The Apostle
Paul noticed this in his time as our verse
from Philippians above states. Paul kept
the past in the past and continued striving
and straining to be better. Isaiah writes
about this in his time also:
“Forget the former things;
do not dwell on the past.
See, I am doing a new thing!
Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?
I am making a way in the wilderness
and streams in the wasteland.”
Isaiah 43: 18-19
We must always live believing that God
is continuing to work in our world and our
lives daily. We can never accept that God
is done, and we should never give up. Yes,
the world and the culture may change, but
we keep pressing on, looking for ways that
God can make roads in the wilderness of
the world and streams in the desert of our
culture.

End of School Bash
owill be Saturday, June 8th
from 4-6pm. We will kick off
summer vacation with slides,
bouncy houses, food & fun!
Youth of all ages are invited.
Please invite your neighbors
& friends.
Elementary Youth Camp
July 26th – 28th at Daddy Joe’s in Immediately following the worship
Tabor City. Children that have
completed kindergarten up to 5th
grade are invited to stay Friday &
Saturday night. There is a $40
deposit due by June 23rd for each
child spending the night. Children 5
years old may stay the night with a
parent. Children younger than 5 are whatever goodies you would like
invited to come during the day with a
parent to participate. There is a
camp sign-up sheet in the lobby.

be provided. Bring a chair or
blanket & a friend!
Lemonade & Bake Sale
service June 23rd, the elementary
youth will have a Lemonade &
Bake Sale to raise funds for food
& golf cart rentals at Daddy Joe’s.
We will have a cake auction &
there will be a donation box for
to take home. There is a baker’s
sign-up sheet in the vestibule.
