Unit 11 Time

Dear Parent or Guardian

During this unit, your child will be learning how to measure time in minutes and seconds and
they will be beginning to estimate how long an activity might take. They will also learn to tell
the time to the nearest half an hour.
In particular, they will learn to:
• Estimate a minute
• Read clocks set to the half hour
• Remember the days of the week and the months of the year.
We will be using digital and analogue clocks and calendars, as well as a number of different
timers.
You can help by using the clocks around the home to tell the time with your child. You could
also use the timer on your phone to time things or to estimate a minute. Write the days of the
week on a large piece of paper on the wall and write down what you do each day. It is also
helpful to have a monthly calendar on the wall.
