CABRI G2 SUPPLEMENTS

1. General
This supplement provides operational data for the Cabri G2 Glass Panel
configuration.
This instrument panel combines the primary flight display Garmin G500H TXi
with the Mid Continent Standby Attitude Module (SAM).
These two independent displays replace the conventional analog instruments
such as Airspeed Indicator, Vertical Speed Indicator, Altimeter and Compass.
The two displays also provide Attitude and Heading indications.
Additional functions such as Horizontal Situation Indication, Navigation,
Traffic, Weather data and Map are provided on the G500H TXi primary
function display.

9-14.2 Approved under DOA EASA.21J.211 Issue 01.1

2. Limitations
Note: This paragraph is approved by the EASA

2.1. General limitations

Operations are limited to day and night VFR.
Both G500H TXi and SAM units must be powered and operative prior to flight.
It is prohibited to shutoff G500H TXi in flight during normal operation.
Flight is prohibited if the internal battery of the SAM unit capacity check is
failed at startup.

Enter the configuration menu of equipment during critical phases of flight is

not permitted.

2.2. G500H TXi full screen Map mode

The full screen Map mode on the G500H TXi is forbidden in flight.

2.3. G500H TXi System software requirements

Software version must be at least 3.03 or later approved software for the GDU
700L (G500H TXi main unit).

2.4. Mid Continent SAM software requirements

Software version must be at least 1.1.1 or later approved software for the MD
302 (SAM unit)

2.5. G500H TXi and main GPS databases

G500H TXi and main GPS (such as GTN) databases must be updated and
valid.
It is the pilot responsibility to ensure that equipment databases are updated
and valid in order to ensure proper functioning of the system, including
optional functions such as ADS-B IN if implemented.

2.6. G500H TXi Attitude and Heading Reference System (AHRS)

G500H TXi AHRS operation is not ensured in the following areas:
• north of latitude 72°N and south of latitude 70°S
• north of latitude 65°N between longitude 75°W and 120°W
• north of latitude 70°N between longitude 70°W and 128°W
• north of latitude 70°N between longitude 85°E and 114°E
• south of latitude 55° S between longitude 120°E and 165°E

The G500H TXi AHRS uses GPS data, air data and magnetometer data
inputs. When operating the G500H TXi with no magnetometer and/or no air

data, rapid pitch or roll movements may result in temporary loss of attitude
indication.

2.7. G500H TXi traffic display

When interfaced with an optional ADS-B IN traffic device, the G500H TXi is
capable of providing traffic display and visual alerting to the pilot.
The traffic display and alerts are an aid to visual acquisition and must not be
used as the sole source of information to base tactical decision for
maneuvering. The pilot must use the “see and avoid procedure” for traffic
avoidance.

2.8. G500H TXi Wireless datalink

G500H TXi data can be transferred on a portable device (e.g., tablet) via a
built-in wireless device.

It is prohibited to attempt to connect external devices via this wireless

interface during critical phases of flight.

2.9. LPV procedures

The LPV procedures are not EASA approved

7. Description
The present manual gives basic information for operating the G500H TXi and
SAM units.

Warning: Although the use of these equipments is simple and intuitive, it is highly
recommended to refer to G500H TXi and SAM pilot’s documentation prior to
operate the Cabri G2 equipped with Glass Panel.

Note: There is no connection between G500H TXi and SAM equipments.

They are fully independent.

7.1. G500H TXi general information

The G500H TXi installed on Cabri G2 provides the following functionalities:
• Attitude
• Airspeed
• Altitude
• Vertical speed
• Heading
• HSI with digital readout
• Course / vertical deviation
• Alerts (traffic, terrain, system and functions advisories)
• OAT
• Wind
• Time
• GPS data display

7.3. G500H TXi adjustable parameters

G500H TXi main adjustable parameters such as altimeter setting or airspeed
and altitude bugs are highlighted in light blue.
They can be set with the control knob when the knob function is assigned to
the desired parameter.
The knob function assignment can be done either by touching the parameter
field on the touch screen or by rotating the control knob base.

7.4. G500H TXi interfaced equipment

In order to be fully operative, the G500H TXi is connected to the following
units:
• One Main GPS or GPS/VOR unit such as Garmin GPS systems
GTN 635 or GTN 650/750.
• One transponder such as Garmin transponders GTX 3x5.
• One dedicated magnetometer, installed in the Cabri G2 tail boom.
• One dedicated OAT probe, installed near the EPM OAT probe in
the upper air intake.

If data link is lost between the G500H TXi and interfaced equipment, the
G500H TXi will still operate, but in degraded modes.
In this case G500H TXi will provide corresponding warnings, caution or
advisory messages to the pilot.
