WEATHER / BEST TIME TO VISIT BUTUAN AND SURIGAO
BUTUAN CUTY WEATHER CONDITIONS ( JANUARY – FEBRUARY)

In Butuan City, experiences consistently hot weather during the months of January and
February. The temperatures remain largely unchanged between the two months , with
minimal variation . While in Surigao City , experiences its coldest temperatures during
the month of January and February.

TRANSPORTATION
Going to Butuan City :
• You can fly to Butuan Airport with daily flights operated by Cebu Pacific airlines.
• Another option is to take a bus or van from Manila Pasay to Surigao, then transfer
to another bus or van to continue on to Butuan.
• Driving your own car is also possible, as the distance from Agusan del Norte to
Butuan is approximately 5 kilometers.

Traveling from Butuan to Surigao City:

• By bus, the trip takes about 2 hours and 33 minutes and costs between ₱170 and
₱290.
• Taking a taxi is the fastest option, completing the journey in around 1 hour and 52
minutes, but costing between ₱4,000 and ₱4,800.
•
Traveling from Surigao to Cabadbaran River:
• The most affordable way is by bus, which costs ₱150 to ₱240 and takes 2 hours
and 3 minutes.
• A taxi is the quickest mode, taking 1 hour and 29 minutes, but costing ₱3,100 to
₱3,700.

Butuan can be accessed by air, bus/van, or private vehicle, while travel between Butuan,
Surigao City, and Cabadbaran River can be done by bus or taxi, with buses being the
more budget-friendly option.

BALANGHAY SHRINE MUSEUM

The Balangay Shrine Museum is a small open air museum. It is a field unit of
the National Museum and although it has very few displays, it has great
historical significance. It displays the remnants of the earliest watercraft
called Balangay or Butuan boat.
