Unit 1 Story: Guidelines for parents and guardians.

Mike: I’m the best.

Leo and Gina: Well done, Mike!

Leo: I’m the best.

Mike and Gina: Well done, Leo!
Teacher: Yes, well done!

Gina: I’m the best.

Mike and Leo: Well done, Gina!
Teacher: Yes, well done!
Polly: I love drawing!
Leo, Gina and Mike: Ooh!

Teacher: Well done, Polly!

Polly: Thank you.
Leo: Polly, you’re the best!

Cut out the five pictures on worksheet part 1. Point to the characters. Your child
says the names (the zebra is the teacher). Ask what is happening in the story (the
child tries to remember and explain in his/her own language). Read the story
script and help the child put the pictures in the correct order. Check with Pupil’s
Book pages 12 and 13.
Give the child glue and the second part of the worksheet. He/She sticks the
pictures down in order into the blank frames. When he/she has finished, talk about
what is happening in the story again (The animals are doing different things at
school. They are all the best at something different (climbing, running, throwing
and drawing). They all encourage one another and appreciate that people have
different skills and abilities.). Practise the repeated phrases from the story: I’m the
best. and Well done! The child can then colour the pictures.
