TEMA: Identifying the most common car electrical problems and suggest what you
can do if you have these problems.
OBJECTIVE
Identify and Describe the most common car electrical problems and suggest what
you can do if you have these problems. Use the Simple Present, Modals,
Technical Vocabulary and Should.
WORK APPROACH
The participant, using audiovisual aids (PPT, video, etc.) will be able to identify and
describe the most common electrical problems in the car and suggest what you can
do if you present these problems, using a vocabulary appropriate to the level of
learning required in your career ( The Simple Present Tense, Modals, Technical
Vocabulary, Should).

It takes a great deal of power to start an engine and start a car. Batteries are a
very important vehicle component, since they are responsible for storing the
necessary energy required to start the engine.
Once your engine can start thanks to it, the charging system driven by it allows
you to recharge the battery: the alternator takes energy from the rotation of the
engine through a belt drive to supply the charging current.
1. Bad connection
There are two ports sticking out of your battery, one negatively charged and the
other positively charged. There are wires that connect to each of these ports that
run from the battery to the starter.
Sometimes the screws or bolts that connect the ports to the cables can come loose
and the connection breaks. When this happens, your car won't start at all, since
there's no power going to the starter.
2. Corrosion on terminals
Corrosion on battery terminals is a very common cause of why a car won't start.
Corrosion, which often takes the form of a white powder (lead sulphate), adds
resistance, reducing the amount of electrical current that can reach the motor.
3. disuse
If your car has been sitting idle for a long time, usually at least two weeks or more,
then your battery may have lost enough power that you can no longer start the engine.
After a battery starts a car, the alternator takesover and powers the electrical systems
while recharging the battery. As long as a car is running fairly frequently, the battery
will continually recharge and be ready to go.
