1. Physical Site Inspection

1.1 Checking of level and alignment of installed surge arresters and

accessories;

1.2 Checking of tightness of connections;

1.3 Checking of proper grounding;

1.4 Checking of physical integrity of the installation;

1.5 Checking of insulation base, if discharge counter and leakage counter (if
any) are installed, and if surge arrester is equipped with insulating base;

1.6 Checking of Surge arrester leads (shall be as short as possible);

1.7 Checking of proper connection of discharge counter and leakage counter (if
any) to arrester unit;

1.8 Checking of porcelains;

1.9 Checking of general construction;

- Support structure
- Structure grounding

2. Site Tests

2.1 Tests of insulation resistance;

2.2 Tests of surge counting device and leakage current meter;

2.3 Measurement of AC leakage current at

- rated system voltage

- max. continuous operating voltage;

2.4 Measurement of DC leakage current at the voltage equivalent to the peak of

- rated system voltage

- max. continuous operating voltage;

2.5 Tests of Watt loss (10 kVAC);

2.6 Test on insulation power factor (10 kVAC)

2.7 Testing the surge arrester leakage current inputs/digital outputs and
indication/recordings at the bay level interfacing panel/cubicle, at the station
level MBSC System (substation control room) and at the Area Control
Centre level.

2.8 Testing the surge arrester counter inputs/digital outputs and indication at
the bay level interfacing panel/cubicle, at the station level sequence event
recorder (substation control room) and at the Area Control Centre level.
