PROJECT: PROPOSED TWO-STOREY RESIDENTIAL WITH ROOF DECK

LOCATION: B1 L8 PHASE 2, CORINTHIAN COMPOUND, VELARDE VILLAGE, TOCLONG II-B, IMUS CITY, CAVIT
OWNER: MARIANNE KATE CONDINO

A. SHORT CIRCUIT ANALYSIS

1. Assuming infinite available fault current at Transformer primary terminals. MERALCO maximum
size of Single-phase Transformer is 75 KVA.
FULL LOAD AMPS (FLA) = (75KVA x 1000) / 230V = 326 Amps
Transformer Multiplier: M = 100 / %Z = 100/1.4 = 71.43
Short Circuit Current = 326 x 71.43 = 23,286 Amps. (23.3 kA)

2. Fault Current at 125AT Circuit Breaker Main Service

Equipment: Distance from Service Point to 125AT CB: d = 5m
Main Service Conductor: 1 set of 2-30.0mm2 in 40mm dia. RSC
ƒ Factor = [ ( 2 x Length x ISC ) / ( C x 1 x 230 ) ]
ƒ Factor = [ ( 2 x 5 x 3.28 x 23,286) / (5906 x 1 x 230 ) ] = 0.562
Multiplier: M = [ (1) / (1+0.562) ] = 0.64
Short-Circuit Current = 23,286 x 0.64= 14,903 Amps (14.9 kA)

The 125AT Circuit Breaker Main Service Equipment must have at least 14.9 kA interrupting Capacity
(KAIC), Symmetrical @ 240V.

3. Fault Current at Meter

Distance from 125AT CB Main Service Equipment to Meter: d = 1m
Main Service Conductor: 1 set of 2-30.0mm2 in 40mm dia. RSC
ƒ Factor = [ ( 2 x Length x ISC ) / ( C x 1 x 230 ) ]
ƒ Factor = [ ( 2 x 1 x 3.28 x 14,903) / (5906 x 1 x 230 ) ] = 0.072
Multiplier: M = [ (1) / (1+0.072) ] = 0.933
Short-Circuit Current = 14,903 x 0.933 = 13,904 Amps (13.9 kA)

4. Fault Current at 125AT CB Main Service Equipment of Panel Board

Distance from Meter to PB, 125ATW CB Main Service Equipment: d
=8m Main Service Conductor: 1 set of 2-30.0mm2 in 40mm dia. RSC
ƒ Factor = [ ( 2 x Length x ISC ) / ( C x 1 x 230 ) ]
ƒ Factor = [ ( 2 x 8 x 3.28 x 13,904) / (5906x 1 x 230 ) ] = .537
Multiplier: M = [ (1) / (1+0.537) ] = .651
Short-Circuit Current = 13,904 x 0.651= 9,052 Amps (9.05 kA)

The Main and Branch Circuit Breakers of Panel Board must have at least 9.05 kA Interrupting
Capacity , Symmetrical @ 240V .

B. VOLTAGE DROP CALCULATION

1. Voltage Drop from service point to 125AT CB Main Service Equipment

(MSE): Length of conductor (1 set of 2-30.0mm2 in 40mm dia. RSC): 5m
VD = [(2 x Load Current x Length x Impedance Z)/(305) x (No. of Set)]
VD = [(2 x 81.58 x 5 x .068)/(305 x 1)] = 0.182%

2. Voltage Drop 125AT CB MSE to Meter

Length of conductor (1 set of 2-30.0mm2 in 40mm dia. RSC): 1m
VD = [(2 x Load Current x Length x Impedance Z)/(305) x (No. of Set)]
VD = [(2 x 81.58 x 1 x .068)/(305 x 1)] = 0.036%

3. Voltage Drop from Meter to Panel Board

Length of conductor (1 set of 2-38.0mm2 in 50mm dia. RSC): 8m
VD = [(2 x Load Current x Length x Impedance Z)/(305) x (No. of Set)]
VD = [(2 x 81.58 x 8 x .78)/(305 x 1)] = 3.338 %

4. Voltage Drop from Panel Board to Ckt. No.8

Length of conductor (1 set of 2-38.0mm2 in 50mm dia. RSC):16m
VD = [(2 x Load Current x Length x Impedance Z)/(305) x (No. of Set)]
VD = [(2 x 9.39 x 16 x .78)/(305 x 1)] = 0.768%

5. Summation of Highest Total Voltage Drop:

a. Service point to 125AT CB MSE: 0.182%
b. 125AT CB MSE to Meter: 0.036%
c. Meter to Panel Board: 3.338 %
d. Panel board to Ckt. 8: 0.768%

TOTAL: 4.324 % ( <5% Allow… OK)
