BIOTECHNOLOGY

GROUP 3: GENELA &

EMMANUELA
what is environmental
biotechnology?
Environmental biotechnology is biotechnology that is applied
to and used to study the natural environment. Environmental
biotechnology could also imply that one try to harness
biological process for commercial uses and exploitation.
Environmental Biotechnology is defined as a branch of
biotechnology that addresses environmental problems, such
as the genetic rescue a species, the removal of polluition,
renewable energy generation or biomas production, all by
using biological processes for the protection and restoration
of the quality of the environmental.
4 MAJOR
DIFFERENT TYPES
OF APPLICATION
1 3
BIOMAKER BIOREMEDIATION

2 4
BIOENERGY BIOTRANSFORMATION
bioremediation
Bioremediation comes from two words that are ‘bio’
and ‘remediate.’ The term ‘remediate’ means solving a
problem. In Bioremediation, we use biological entities
for solving environmental issues such as contaminated
soil or groundwater and much more.
using microorganism to remove or degrade pollutants
from environment
biomarker
A type of application of environmental Biotechnology
gives response to a chemical that helps to measure the
level of damage caused or the exposure of the toxic or
the pollution effect caused. In other word, Biomarker
can also be called as the Biological markers the major
use of this applications helps to relate the connection
between the oils and its sources.
bioenergy
The collective purport of Biogas, biomass, fuels, and
hydrogen are called the Bioenergy. The use of this
application of Environment Biotechnology is in the
industrial, domestic and space sectors.
Bioenergy is a form of renewable energy generated when
we burn biomass fuel. Biomass fuels come from organic
material such as harvest residues, purpose-grown crops
and organic waste from our homes, businesses and farms.

BURNING
In the realm of bioenergy, "burning" refers to one
of the ways to release the energy stored in
biomass to produce biopower. Biomass fuels,
which are renewable and derived from recently
living organic materials, can be converted into
heat and electricity through processes similar to
those used with fossil fuels.

BACTERIAL DECAY
Bacteria break down tissues and cells, releasing
fluids into body cavities. They often respire in the
absence of oxygen (anaerobically) and produce
various gases including hydrogen sulphide,
methane, cadaverine and putrescine as by-
products.

CONVERTION TO A GAS OR
LIQUID POWER

the process of changing or causing something to

change from one form to another.
biotransformation
Biotransformation is a process by which organic
compounds are transformed from one form to another
to reduce the persistence and toxicity of the chemical
compounds.
This process is aided by major range of microorganisms
and their products such as bacteria, fungi and
enzymes.
bioremediation
The process of cleaning of the
hazardous substances into non-toxic
compunds is called the bioremediation
process. Bioremediation is a branch of
biotechnology that employs the use of
the use of living organisms, like
microbes and bacteria to
decontaminate affected areas. It is
used in the removal of contaminants,
pollutants, and toxins from soils,
water, and other environments.
