COURSE OBJECTIVES:

1. To enable the students to understand fundamental concepts, terms and terminologies involved in Operations
Management and to relate themselves with importance, role and application of Operations Management in
sustaining productivity of various organizations.

2. To help the students understand various issues related to facilities such as their capacity decisions, plant location,
and plant layout in operation environments.

3. To enable the students to identify relevant techniques of the inventory management, principles and methods of
material handling, analyze the purchase management issues, evaluate the practices and policies of operations
management to develop a framework ensuring a balanced line of production and scheduling in the operations
environment.

4. To enable the students to apply the concept of assembly line balancing, inspection and total quality control
management functions and maintenance management for sustaining the productivity in the organization in
appropriate situation.

COURSE OUTCOMES:

CO1: Students will learn the basic & fundamental concepts of Operational Management and various
transformation processes and manufacturing system to enhance productivity and competitiveness.

CO2: Students will be able to understand the intricacies of Operational Management such as various facility
alternatives and their capacity decisions, plant location, plant layout in operation environments along with their
application, how to deal with the critical issues related to operations management.

CO3: Students will be able to apply their knowledge of Operations Management in dealing with various issues of
the inventory management, materials handling, and purchase management issues, evaluate the practices and
policies of operations management to develop a framework ensuring a balanced line of production & scheduling
in the operations environment.
