MACRO SKILLS AND DEVELOPMENT

 Important terms related to the macro skills and communication in MTB-MLE include:

1. Listening: The ability to understand and comprehend spoken language.


Example:
- Listening to stories, songs, and conversations in the mother tongue language.
- Following instructions given in the mother tongue language.
- Participating in group discussions and listening to others’ opinions.
2. Speaking: The ability to express oneself orally and communicate effectively.
Example:
- Engaging in conversations with peers and teachers in the mother tongue language.
- Sharing personal experiences and stories in the mother tongue language.
- Giving presentations or speeches in the mother tongue language.
3. Reading: The ability to understand written language and comprehend written texts.
Example:

the national language, and one or more languages of wider communication, such as English. They can
use these languages in various situations and interactions for learning in school. They can also live and
work harmoniously with people of different cultural backgrounds while maintaining their own cultural
identity source.

The strategies in teaching the mother tongue and developing the macro skills include activities such as
storytelling, rhymes, modeling, presentation of video clips, interactive board activities, and
contextualized learning experiences. These strategies aim to engage learners actively, develop their
phonological and phonemic awareness, and enhance their communication skills in the mother tongue
language source.
