As a young girl, I grew up in a rural village in Meru County, Kenya; losing my parents at the age of 16 has

been my biggest challenge, but at the same time, it has molded me into a strong, determined, and
focused individual in a quest for educational excellence and leadership. Nevertheless, I managed to
garner an A- average, which corresponds to a 3. 7 GPA, in high school as a result of my hard work and
seriousness to deliver my best in all my academic endeavors, thus enabling me to secure a government
scholarship to pursue my degree in Economics at the Technical University of Kenya. This background has
endowed me with a strong sense of responsibility for any issue about my academics, civility, and service.

The chronicler of this journey is a financial services industry I joined seven years ago after being
recommended for a job by one of my undergraduate tutors. From this perspective, I gained profound
insights into the fundamentals of managing finances and the overall functioning of an organization.
Some organizations I have worked for include Commercial Bank of Africa NCBA Bank Kenya PLC, where I
have achieved vital improvements to enhance the efficiency of processes and regulations in the Trade
Finance Department. For instance, I pioneered the industry with the first online bid bond issuance,
which led to the cutting out of many forms and the transaction time cut by 50 percent. Such
accomplishments make me proud to have the skills to organize myself to perform my assigned tasks in a
way that benefits the team.

Applying for the position in the Jenkins MBA program as the Graduate Assistant, my perspectives and
educational background would allow me to contribute significantly. In the finance and operations area,
my academic background, experience, and professional certifications, such as CPA and certificates in
International Trade and Finance, Credit Risk Management, and Supply Chain Finance, have given me a
good grounding in financial analysis and management. These skills are fit for performing research in
completing a master’s degree and help in grading undergraduate papers with much comprehension and
precision.

The pedagogy, professionalism, and mastery of my current performance also proved that I can perform
the administrative tasks characteristic of the Graduate Assistant. I have previously done administrative
work at the Kenyan Ministry of Gender, youth, and Public Service as a Graduate Trainee. I have
demonstrated clear commitments to process improvements that yield improvements and achievements,
which include the following: Reconciliation Errors decreased by 70 percent and improvements in
product control and monitoring. These experiences will be beneficial in performing different tasks that
the GA is assigned, like handling exams and assisting the faculty with research projects.

Moreover, the culture and practice I have been exposed to within a closely-knit rural community in
Kenya have instilled in me an understanding and appreciation for collective endeavors and the ability to
engage the community in any activity. It is necessary to have different approaches and opinions
integrated into the project, and, working with people, I know how to establish cooperation and keep it.
This skill will be instrumental in ensuring that within the Jenkins MBA program, there is a healthy
synergy of support systems between students and faculty.
Finally, I made good use of the above points, and therefore, I would be both academically and personally
suitable for the Jenkins MBA Graduate Assistantship program. I look forward to applying for the position
to contribute my unique skills in managing the financial aspect of the program and coordinating the
implementation of projects that will ultimately fulfill the program's objectives and enrich my experience
as a student.
