Mobility of Youth Workers

12-20 August 2024
Schaijk, Netherlands
COORDINATOR ORGANIZATION

“If you want to go fast, go alone,

if you want to go far, go together”

Active Youth Arnhem is a social initiative started by

experienced young people in youth work living in Arnhem to
promote EU opportunities, engagement, and empowerment of
youngsters. We aim to foster active participation of young
people in civic society and also to encourage raising
awareness among young people in the Netherlands to involve
them in European projects such as Erasmus+ youth exchanges,
training courses, and ESC. Our values and visions are solidarity
within the European Union, respect for human dignity and
human rights, and the promotion of a society in which freedom,
interculturalism, democracy, tolerance, justice, and equality
prevail. Our approach to taking part in shaping such a society
is to enable young people to gain experiences that

a) help them to broaden their view of the world, different

cultures, different aspects, on different goals in their life

b) provide them with the necessary social and key

competencies skills. By enabling such experiences, we want to
encourage the young people we work with to dare implement
their ideas and ideals for changing society for the better. The
scope of our interest includes topics such as education,
employment, entrepreneurship, self-development, inclusion,
integration, well-being, citizenship-democratic participation,
environment, culture, sports, and creativity and we are always
open to expanding these topics and experiencing different
aspects.

PROJECT INTRODUCTION

Our project aims to help youth workers explore Podcast

techniques to adapt in non-formal education to help young
people be resilient towards crisis. Podcasts provide a safe
space where young people can listen to and engage with a
range of topics related to mental health, such as coping
strategies, self-care tips, positive self-image, support, and
recovery. Podcasting is an attractive tool to reach young
people because it offers a sense of community and
connection, as they can listen to the experiences of others who
may be going through similar challenges. Together with our
partner organizations, we want to carry out "Fostering resilience
in youth work through podcasting" (FOREST) Erasmus+ project
to increase our youth work and education quality through
integrating Podcasting techniques into our youth work and
providing resilience tools for young people such as meditation,
connecting with nature, insight meditation, evaluating stress
factors, and understanding the effects on their bodies and
minds.
PARTICIPANT PROFILE

The FOREST training program is designed for youth workers,

both employees and volunteers, from partner organizations
who work with vulnerable youth on a daily basis. These young
people have been affected by the crisis in various ways such
as having no motivation, being introverted and self-isolated,
being traumatic, encountering domestic violence, attempting
suicide, and struggling with depression, anxiety, and alcohol
and drug abuse. The participants in our training program are
youth workers aged 20-40 years old.

Through this program, youth workers will acquire new skills and
tools in Podcast modeling, to enhance their work, and they will
also contribute to the development of innovative techniques to
foster youth education towards crisis. The partner
organizations have identified specific needs for their youth
workers, such as increasing knowledge, skills, and
competencies in well-being techniques to manage anxiety
during crises, discovering stress management, mindfulness,
and well-being techniques, and equipping them with various
resilient methods to become positive change-makers in their
local communities.
