Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.S.

)
Online Degree in Water Resources Management

Water resources management is the activity of planning, developing, distributing and

managing the optimum use of our most vital natural resource, and managers have to make
difficult decisions on water allocation. More and more they have to balance diminishing
supplies between ever‐increasing demands.

The Bachelor of Applied Science in Water Resources Management at Florida Gateway

College is a fully online program that prepares students for a career in the water industry.
It is part of Florida Governor Rick Scott’s challenge for affordable four year degrees costing
less than $10,000. In this program, students will learn best practices in water systems
management, identifying who uses water, quantifying how much water is used, and
optimizing how that water is used.

Water issues are not only a matter of managing systems; they are also economic and
political in nature. Students of this program will also learn the intricacies of public
administration and policy, environmental regulation and compliancy, and environmental
policy and management.
