JOB DESCRIPTION
GENERAL INFORMATION:
Job Title: Senior Process Engineer (EPCI#1) Reports to: Lead Process Engineer
Department: Development Organization: PHU QUOC POC
Work Location(s): Company Head office in HCM Job Type: Full time
City; Contractors’ offices and sites.
JOB PURPOSE:
Support Lead Process Engineer in managing the Process engineering and design of
EPCI#1, VBGP Phase 1.
PRINCIPLE ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist the Lead Process Engineer in the following tasks / responsibilities:
Define the Process requirements for the facilities development and ensure correct
implementation during the design, procurement, fabrication, installation and
commissioning phases of offshore facilities including CPP, LQ and WHP
Provide input to the Process engineering and design of Contractors’ scope of work.
Oversee process definition, equipment and pipe sizing.
Ensure that equipment specification(s), design and vendor selection consider
operability and maintainability to meet the production availability targets. Liaise with
the Project Operations team on maintenance aspects of the design.
Ensure alignment with instrument team on the development of P&IDs, Cause
and Effects matrices, control, operating and shutdown philosophies.
Ensure Process related deliverables to be reviewed by the appropriately experienced
engineers/designers of Process discipline of PQPOC. Manage to return comments on
time as per agreed review cycle.
Review and check process deliverables and deliverables from other disciplines where
they interface with and require Process IDC input.
Provide discipline approval for all Process final design documents.
Participate in deign reviews including HAZOP, HAZID, SIL, HFE and 3D
model where applicable.
Support safety engineering activities including dispersion modeling, explosion
modeling, QRA and other studies as required.
Participate in evaluation of equipment procurement.
Participate in the review of vendor documentation for purchased equipment.
Support Commissioning and Start-up teams with Process engineering issues.
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree (as a minimum) in Chemical engineering or Petrochemical and Refining
or Petroleum Engineering.
Experience:
Minimum 8 years of experience in oil and gas, a minimum 5 years in Senior roles; must
have significant process design experience, including offshore oil or gas production
facilities.
Experience in both Client and Contractor roles is desirable. Exposure to operations and
commissioning is preferable.
Specific Knowledge / Skills:
Deep knowledge of oil and gas processing systems, system design and equipment sizing
and specification, applicable to offshore facilities. Knowledge to include as a minimum,
separation, dehydration, dew pointing, compression, condensate/oil stabilisation and utility
systems.
Must be a skilled user of HYSYS, Flare.Net and PIPESIM.
Good understanding of control and shutdown systems and design requirements.
Deep understanding of Process safety and design codes, standards and regulations.
Good understanding of methodology for safety assessment of process systems including
HAZOP, HAZID and SIL assessment.
Good understanding of Flow Assurance including calculation methods, interpretation of
results and mitigation options to prevent flow assurance issues.
Broad understanding of other aspects of facilities including mechanical, instrumentation &
control and pipeline as they relate to the process design.
Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills with the ability to work in a
multinational project team and ability to develop strong working relationships
with Contractor(s).
Good command in English, writing, listening and speaking.
Good mentoring skills
A willingness to train and develop staff.
A good level of patience and negotiation skills
Effective teamwork.
Business Understanding:
Understanding of contractor, supplier’s functions and their capacity of supply.
Ability to provide input to and understand lifecycle cost analysis.
