OBJECTIVE: To provide all employees with safe and healthy working environment during the COVID 19 Pandemic
ACTIVITY STEPS:
• Access Control for the period of lock-down:
Murray and Dickson will not accept any visit except to those persons rendering security and special maintenance services.
• All Public transport bringing employees to the TPL Depot will wait until all employees has gain access into the site. If an employee is not allowed
entrance he will use the same transport to return as per direction given by security.
• The security guard on duty will use an infrared thermometer to measure your fever on your forehead. If your temperature is ≥37.5˚C, you will be
denied access and be advised to seek professional medical attention.
• Employees having signs of fever and having a temperature above 37.5°C will be requested to complete a questionnaire
• Security will notify the supervisor about the employee’s status for a follow-up.
• Employee denied access due to signs of fever, will be referred to Netcare Hospital or their preferred medical Centre if they have medical aid for
further observation and recommendations
• All personnel entering the TPL Depot will be subjected to hand sanitation at the security check points
• Suspension of Non- Essential Visitors and Workers (Work from home & Decreased work hours/days to limit exposure) as per lock down directive
• Essential employees and contractors including any means of supplier will be provided with travel permit.

• The best way to avoid infection is to avoid being exposed to the virus
• Key principles for preventing Coronavirus:
• Hand wash often with liquid soap and running water. If soap and water are not available use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer
• Cover your mouth and nose with your flexed elbow or a tissue when sneezing/coughing. Throw away the tissue in a bin immediately and wash
hands.
• Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.
• Clean and disinfect objects and surfaces that are frequently used touched.
• Avoid close contact with anyone who has fever and cough.
• Avoid consumption of raw or under cooked animal products.
• Avoid travel if you have a fever and cough.
• All employees will receive a pro-active influenza vaccine. (Please note that this is not a COVID-19 vaccine).
• Community will be provided with Pamphlets with Information related to COVID-19
• Murray and Dickson will provide Protective gear for its workforce
• Medical management
In Response to the pandemic, and in the interest of ensuring that Health Centre staff can respond to possible COVID-19 positive cases, Murray and Dickson
amended the process of conducting medical surveillance in the following manner:
• Suspension of full medical by only conducting basic chronic care management such as blood pressure, Diabetes, Urine and drug test and ensuring
that health measures and precautions are strictly adhered to avoid infections of COVID 19 or to reduce to limited health risk
• Postpone pre-employment and exit medical
• Extending the certificate of fitness for the period of the lock down or as instructed further by the relevant government officials
• All other medical examinations such as x-rays, lung functions and audio screening are suspended.
• Safety Goggles or
• Face shield if available
• Surgical masks or any alternative prevention masks
• Surgical gloves/disinfectant sanitizer to clean hands after inspecting vehicles
• Access to consumables
Murray and Dickson have ensured that there is a continuous supply of the appropriate consumables used to prevent the spread of COVID-19, such as
hygiene products as well as the personal protective equipment.
Alternative suppliers have also been identified to ensure that the consumables can be sourced if one supplier experiences challenges. The sourcing of the
consumables is coordinated procured through finance management section and the distribution of this consumables will be managed by Safety department
and site managers for our Sub-Contractors.
Occupationally acquired COVID-19, as defined in the COID Act, is described as infection arising out of and in the course of an employee’s employment, will
be managed as provided for in section 65 and 66 of the COID Act. For the diagnosis of occupationally acquired COVID-19 the following criteria should be
met:
• Occupational exposure to a known source of COVID-19
• A reliable diagnosis of COVID-19 as per the WHO guidelines
• An approved official trip and travel history to countries and / or areas of high risk for COVID-19 on work assignment
• A presumed high rick work environment where transmission of COVID-19 is inherently prevalent; and
• A chronological sequence between the work exposure and development of symptoms
