For day 1’s work, we were supposed to various possible locations to find a variety of

flora in various conditions. I went to sundar nursery along with lodhi garden
to observe variety of flora in these places. I saw many blooming flowers
along with heavy bulky trees. I sat and sketched those for a long while where
I had many people come up to me and ask what I was doing and why.
Everyone was very curious and some even though I was studying the
anatomy of flowers. I could capture the colors and essence and the built of a
flower. I realized how different each flower is through their composition and
way of growing. I saw trees like bamboos as well.

I filled a journal full of sketches of flora I captured during my day 1 visit.

On day 2 we were required to bring magazines along with our favorite flower.
We were asked to represent flower through tearing magazine pages and
making collages. My flower was a white chrysanthemum. I started with
tearing white pages to present my flower but later on experimented by
switching colors rather than capturing the exact color. Honestly it was very
fun to start this work as I didn’t have to think much and just represent
whatever I saw in my flower.

For day 3’s work we were asked to continue our previous day work but
instead to just in cooperate glaze paper. It seemed like not a major change
when you think about it but actually made a major change in the
composition. Just adding that hint of color in the background made the work
pop out so much. It brought a good definition to my work and since my flower
was already white so adding the color in the back made my work really
better. we tore the sheets in abstract pieces and placed them however we
felt right and I honestly put a lot of thought while working on this.

From day 4 we were asked to add on other materials like fabrics, thread,
yarn etc. In our work. Adding fabric or thread to our sheet of paper seemed
very tough to start with but as I already have a keen interest in fashion and
fabrics, it really excited me. Working with thread and fabric was so much
better for me than just magazines. It brought a whole new definition to my
work. We were also asked to not represent the flower directly onto our work
but instead to get the essence of the same. At first the concept of capturing
essence came out very vague to me and I didn’t understand how to do it but
as my teachers helped me through it and just told me to trust the process
and start with the work, it genuinely helped to achieve what I wanted.
Trusting the process was a major help to me as when I used to start a
composition I had something in mind but halfway through the work I had
second thoughts about the same. That is when I just went with the flow and
did my work and the result was genuinely very satisfactory to me

On Day 5 we were asked to include all the mediums we used so far and more
like soft pastels, oil pastels, etc. They asked us to not put much thought onto
it and just work with our flow and we will end up receiving an amazing
outcome. The trust the faculty had in me made me genuinely work as there
were times when I got so stuck up in my head that I just could not get the
work done. I kept on criticizing my work constantly. But the faculty helped
me through that and made me understand what all I need to work on and how
I can proceed further. Mixing all the mediums was very fun for me as I felt so
free with whatever I wanted to do. I just made what I was feeling and
honestly my emotions and my then mood played a major role onto what was
appearing on the page.

On day 6 we started working with abstract terms of our flower, just capturing
the essence onto a 1X1 sheet instead of a full rectangle one. These were
supposed to be the iterations to the work we had to further do on a canvas.
This was the final day of us creating these pieces and letting our mind flow
through mediums and aimlessly creating beautiful pieces.
