Dona has a favorite item, a jersey form her favorite footballers. She received it when
she and her friends watched a football match in town. Dona attended a conference after the
match and luckily, she received the jersey.
The jersey is in medium size. It is red with white stripes on its shoulders and a picture
of garuda on its left chest. At a glance, it is similar to other jerseys, but the autograph on the
back of the jersey makes it different from others.
Dona is very happy to have the jersey. She never intends to wear it. She hangs it on
her room wall for display.
I live in a big house. There are three bedrooms. My bedroom is near the living room.
Next to my bedroom is my parents’ bedroom. It is a big bedroom. There is a bathroom inside.
The next bedroom is for guests. Sometimes my relatives come to visit us and stay overnight,
and they take a rest in that room.
The kitchen is in the back part of my house. It is not big, but very clean and complete.
There a refrigerator, gas stove, some kitchen utensils, etc. My kitchen is very nice, too. My
mother always sweeps the floor every day. She also puts some flowers on the dining table and
some other decorations on the wall.
There is a small backyard behind my house. We plant some trees around the yard. My
mother also plants some vegetables. I also like gardening. I plant some jasmines and roses.
San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge is one of the most beautiful and busiest bridges
in the world. The Golden Gate Bridge spans entrance to San Francisco Bay in California,
USA. The total length of the bridge is 2737 m.
The towers at either end are 340 m high. The suspended span between the towers is
1280 m, one of the longest in the world. The roadway is 67 m above the water, although this
varies according to the height of the tide. The bridge carries two six-lane highways and
pedestrian paths. Unusually, the bridge is double-deck, carrying traffic one way on the upper
deck and the other way on the lower deck.
The Golden Gate Bridge was designed by Joseph Baerman Strauss and built for $35
million, a third of the original cost estimate. The bridge was opened to traffic on 27 th May
1937.

Last month, I had a history project to write about a historical site in our town. We had
to work in groups of five. Our history teacher gave us two weeks for writing the report, but he
would give more points for groups who submitted the report early.
I made a group with my four classmates. Then, our group browsed information about
historical sites in our town. We made a list of the sites and discussed which place we would
visit. Finally, we decided to write about Plaosan Temple.
The next day, we went there by bicycles. It took about thirty minutes from our school.
Then, we parked our bicycles and walked to the temple area. We explored the place and asked
for the information about the place to a tourist guide. We also took pictures. After collecting
information, we typed our report. We did it after school.
After finishing the report, we submitted it to the teacher. My group was the first that
submitted it. The teacher gave us more points. After two weeks, the teacher reviewed our
reports and my group received the highest score.
16. What did the writer and his group probably feel at the end of the story?
a. Pleased b. Amused c. Relaxed d. Optimistic

One day, a scorpion looked around at the mountain where he lived and decided that he
wanted to go around. So he set on a journey through the forest and hills. He climbed over a
rock until he reached a river.
The river was wide and the water flowed fast. The scorpion stopped to learn the
situation. He couldn’t see any ways to cross it. Suddenly, he saw a frog sitting in the bank on
the other side of the river. He decided to ask the frog help him across the river.
“Hellooo … Mr. Frog! Called the scorpion from across the water, “Will you help me
to cross the river?”
“Well now, Mr. Scrorpion! How do I know that if I help you, you won’t kill me?”
asked the frog hesitantly.
“Because,” the scorpion replied, “If I kill you, I would die too, for you see I cannot
swim!”
So the frog agreed to take the scorpion to cross the river. He swam over the other bank
of the river to pick up the scorpion. The scorpion climbed onto the frog’s back, and then the
frog slid into the river.
Halfway across the river, the frog suddenly felt a sharp sting in his back. He was in
pain. He couldn’t move his body.
“You fool! You sting me”, cried the frog, “Now we shall both die! Why did you do
that?” The scorpion answered. “I could not help myself. It is my nature.” Then they both sank
into the river.

Grasshoppers are insect that can hop, walk and fly. Many males grasshoppers make
noise by rubbing their back legs together. There are about 10.000 different species of
grasshoppers.
Grasshoppers undergo simple (or incomplete) metamorphosis. It consists of 3 stages;
eggs hatch into nymphs, which look like little adult without wings and reproductive organs.
Nymphs molt many times as they grow to be adults.
Like all insects, the grasshoppers have a three-part body (head, thorax, and abdomen),
six jointed legs, two pairs of wings and two antennae. Their bodies are covered with a hard
exoskeleton. Grasshoppers breathe through a series of holes called spiracles; they are located
along the sides of the body. Most grasshoppers are green, brown, or olive-green. The biggest
ones are about 4,5 inches (11,5 cm) long. The long hind legs are used for hopping. The short
front legs are used to hold prey and to walk.
Grasshoppers eat plants. Their predators include birds, beetles rodents, reptiles, and
spiders. Flies also eat grasshoppers’ legs.
