Benteng Otanaha

This fort, which is a silent witness to the Indonesian people's resistance to the Portuguese, is
divided into three buildings Otanaha is the main fort, while Otahiya and Ulupahu are the other

"Ota" means fort, and "Naha" is the name of the son of King llato who rediscovered this fort

The fort was built based on an agreement between King llato and the Portuguese, which is
estimated to have been built in 1522. Otanaha Fort was built with the aim of being a defensive
fort against enemy attacks. Otanaha Fort was built from sand, limestone and Maleo bird eggs as
adhesive, with a foundation of natural stones. The height of the fort is around 7 meters and the
diameter of the fort is probably around 20 meters.
