COMMON ERRORS AND RELEVENT STRATEGIES SUGGESTED FOR
IMPROVEMENT IN MATHEMATICS
COMMON ERRORS:
Copying the data wrong from the question.
Common math errors committed while counting. Typing it wrong into the calculator. Messy work/handwriting. Not following the instructions. Dropping a negative sign. Improper use of formulae. Conceptual mistakes.
SUGGESTED STRATEGIES:
1. Circle important information.
2. Pay attention and slow down a bit, if needed while calculating or using a calculator. 3. Regular practice with sincerity and consistency at least for three to four hours not necessarily at a stretch. Proper schedule has to be maintained for regular practice. 4. Students are advised to first go through the topics which they are not comfortable with. 5. Make up a sheet with all the formulae you need to know and memorize all the formulae. 6. Practice problems for each topic ranging in levels of difficulty. 7. Practice chapter wise from previous years question papers. 8. Advised to practice worked out examples and check their answers to gain practice with every lesson. 9. Mix up the order of the questions from various topics when you are reviewing so you'll learn when to use a specific method/formula. 10. Repetition is important in math. Make sure you learn how to recognize when/why you should use a specific method to solve a problem. 11. Even if you know the final answer is wrong, don't erase your entire work because you may get partial credit for using the correct procedure. 12. Advised to set attainable goals every day.
