Interview Prep Guide

This interview guide will help prepare you for your upcoming interviews here at Coinbase. Our
interviews moving forward consist of two stages, our Pre-Interview stage and our Final Interview
stage.

Pre-Interview Overview:
For our Pre-interview Stage you will complete an online technical assessment via CodeSignal.

Requirements:
● Ensure you have a good internet connection and the web browser is updated with the
latest version of the operating system.
● Have your laptop ready and prepared for the technical interviews.
● For the interview stage we use Google Meet, so please ensure your webcam, microphone
and screen share are working properly.
● If you require any specific accommodations during your interviews, please
email accommodations@coinbase.com with your request.

CodeSignal
● You will receive an email from CodeSignal.
● Duration: 90 minutes and you will have 7 days to complete the test.
● The test evaluates core user interface development skills—such as rendering UX designs, handling
dynamic interactions, and consuming APIs. You can use the following languages: JavaScript,
TypeScript. You can also choose the following Frameworks: React, Angular, Vue. ○ Preparing for a

○ What is proctoring and how does it work?

Once you complete the technical via CodeSignal, our team member will reach back out to you once
your results are available.

Final Interview Overview:

The second part is the Interview Stage which consists of 3 interview sessions over the course of ~3
hours. We are very open to having your interviews done all in one day, or split over two days to
accommodate your schedule.

Technical 60 min We will evaluate your proficiency in debugging an

Skills Evaluated: Correctness of Solution, React or RN
Fundamentals, Debugging Skills, Collaboration and
Communications.

Interview Platform: This interview will be conducted over

CodeSignal’s Interview platform. You can familiarize
yourself with the IDE in the CodeSignal Arcade.

Domain Interview 60 min You will be working with your interviewer on building a
reusable component from 0>1 in order to test your
ability
to create a novel and robust piece of UI.

Skills Evaluated: Correctness of Solution, Code Quality,

API Design, Visual Awareness, Component Architecture.

Interview Platform: This interview will be conducted over

CodeSignal’s Interview platform. You can familiarize
yourself with the IDE in the CodeSignal Arcade.

Foundational 45 min This interview will cover topics such as working on

Interview teams/projects, working cross-functionally, and
accountability/ownership (e.g. what was your role on the
project, who was impacted by your project, etc).

Skills Evaluated: Growth Mindset, Managing Complexity,

Problem Solving, Nimble Learning and Communication.
