Answers:

1. There are two video game series that are my favorite. God of War and Monster
Hunter. Both games have history from early 2000s and are still going strong 20 years
later.

2. The genre of video games I prefer are Action, Adventure, Role-playing, and as of
recent, Strategy games. I like fast action combat sequences, I also like to dress up
my character and make him/her look cool, but I’m not so fond of character creation
systems as my creativity in designing is suboptimal. To me it’s fun to just hop in and
start fighting the enemies the game throws at me, and sometimes I like to come up
with interesting combos that play out really well. That kind of feedback loop is what
makes me interested in these genres.
As far as hate goes, I don’t really like Role-playing games that has massive stories to
the point I have to watch Youtube videos or read guides in order to learn the setting
of the story and the large amount of character and character interactions they
include, so to that extent I rarely play visual novel type of games. Aside from that, I
don’t like racing games that much since the controller input is vastly different to the
steering wheel and stick-shift setup that arcade provides, so I’m probably going to
play racing games once I can get a racing setup. As for sports games, I don’t play
them at all, I’m just not interested with it.

3. I play video games mostly for the gameplay reasons and the entertainment it
provides. There’s a satisfying feeling to be found when I bring out the full potential of
the game’s system may it be in the form of min-maxing stats/equipment or
memorizing boss patterns.

4. Based off of my distant memories, I think the worst video game that I had played
Silent Hill: Origins. The reason why I think that was the worst video game I played in
my childhood was because of its difficulty. I remember the game not having any HUD
at all, and it is also a horror game so that’s double the difficulty factor for me. If I were
to play that game today, I would still hate it, since it still would not have a HUD and
for me to finish it, I would have to look for guides.

5. Give me video games that: (explain why)

a. Borderlands 2. It was very interesting in the early stage of the game, but as I
progress through the story, I felt like it was taking too long to finish the game
and that I was being sidelined by stupid quests so by the time I was on the
end, I was just mindlessly trying to finish it as quickly as I can for the sake of
game completion.
b. Ghost Recon Wildlands. The game has a system where the player can give
commands to the AI NPCs that you have in your party to do various
commands. However, for me it was too complicated because I’m also
controlling a character and I am in the same field with them, so I have to give
detailed commands to the AI NPCs to act accordingly. The game mentally
requires me to micro-manage the AI to synchronize with my gameplan and to
me, that was too complicated to get used to.
c. Rage 2. It’s as simple as choosing your favorite gun from the set of guns
provided by the game, and clicking on the enemies as you slaughter your way
out of situations. Every encounter was like that, not much cover, just push,
push, and kill until no enemy is left. It was a very simple game, but it was very
fun.
d. Deep Rock Galactic. No microtransactions, constant updates, and engaging
gameplay loop. The reasons that I could think of why it’s not big is because of
its setting of dwarfs and bugs(bugs as in insects no ingame bugs) as well as it
being a small studio.
e. Biomutant. It was too boring for me, and it had a large area to explore with
little to no change to the gameplay loop. So, in the new areas I went through,
it was the same recycled enemies over and over while trying to complete a
large amount of quest.
f. Armored Core VI. The game was too difficult as the game has no way of
adjusting difficulty, so the enemies are as strong as the developers designed.
The gameplay is very enjoyable despite being difficult, so I studied the boss’
patterns and tweaked multiple builds to clear them. It was very rewarding to
finish a boss fight after you have tried fighting it multiple times.
g. League of Legends. My teammates annoy me every time.
h. Cyberpunk 2077.

V – Guess I meant, I dunno… a happier ending… for everyone involved?

Johnny – Here, for folks like us? Wrong city, wrong people.

Hearing these quote after everything that the player character has gone
through(V) is too sad for me. It feels like everything that I had worked for this
character amounted to nothing, because at the end, nothing mattered at all.
The sense of desperation then acceptance that V had just made me feel sad.

6. A game I think that I find myself playing for hours and hours and just can’t put down
is Horizon Zero Dawn. It is just a majestic game overall. The gameplay loop is
incredibly engaging, the scenery as I traverse the open world is stunning. I played
that game all day all night during the pandemic. it is such a beautiful game.

7. Yes, I think that video games are addictive. It is because of the fact that video games
stimulate the brain. When a person plays the game, they get this surge of dopamine
and become happy and satisfied but, if the game is suddenly taken away, for
example a person is too tired to play and immediately went to sleep afterwards.
When that person wakes up, they will crave to play some games. From there it’s a
cycle of gaming and nothing else, no social life, not time for family, no time to keep
themselves clean and etc.

8. Why do some people like a certain sport over the other? Or why do some people like
this X vegetable over this Y vegetable? It’s just a matter of personal preference and
there is no topic where 100% of people agree positively, there will always be a group
of people that will disagree.

9. Yes, I think it’s okay for adults to play video games. Who even promoted the idea that
adults should not play video games when they grow up? I think discouraging a
person to do something they want just because of age or gender or anything is just
stupid. If the adult wants to play video games let them be. They might be playing for
nostalgia, or they might be playing to keep up with their kids’ trends, whatever the
reason be, all that matters is that they have fun in the process.

10. Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End or Danmachi. In the future I want a VR game where
we can explore and go on an adventure in the setting of a Fantasy world. To go
through taverns and inns, fight monsters and people, and go into dungeons to collect
treasure. That would be incredibly engaging and fun plus the amazing scenery that I
will get to look at, it would be spectacular.
