Assignment 1

Environmental Problem:
Floods in Guiguinto
The town of Guiguinto in Bulacan is greatly affected of the recent typhoons Egay
and Falcon. Few years ago, I can remember that this town was barely affected
by floods caused by typhoons. But almost a month ago, many areas are left with
a knee-level floods or worse.

Solution:
Early warning system: Implement advanced flood forecasting and early warning
systems to provide timely alerts to residents.

Community Engagement: Involve the local community in flood management

efforts, encouraging residents to participate in initiatives such as cleaning drives,
tree planting, and disaster preparedness workshops.
University Policies that help in taking care of Environment:
1. Green Engineering
A project/campaign of Local Student
Council (2017-2018) of College of
Engineering that aims in reminding
students using restroom in Natividad Hall
to turn off the light after they use or as
they leave. It helps the environment by
saving energy.

2. Water Conservation
In every restroom, you can see these stickers or posters that reminds students to
use water efficiently. It helps the environment because fresh clean water is a
limited and costly resource.

3. Facility Cleanliness
Maintaining the cleanliness of the restroom is also taking care of the
environment. Keeping the facilities clean is the aim of these reminders.
