Washington is a federated state in the

northwest of the United States of


America, located on the Pacific coast
to the east. The largest city is Seattle,
located to the west and the capital is
Olympia.

It is named after George Washington, the


first president of the United States, and
derives from the western part of the
Washington Territory which had been
ceded by Great Britain in 1846 with the
Treaty of Oregon.
The State of Washington is
located in the extreme
northwest of the continental
United States. Bathed by the
Pacific Ocean to the west, it
borders Oregon to the south,
Idaho to the east, and Canada
to the north.
The tall mountains of the Cascade Range run north to
south, dividing the state in half. The western most
part of the state, from the Cascade Range to the west,
has a climate influenced mainly by the ocean, with
mild temperatures and humid winters, autumns,
springs and relatively dry summers. The range also
contains several volcanoes, which reach significantly
higher altitudes than other mountains.

is the official seat of the 2
branches of the United States Congress, the federal
parliament. The Capitol is an example of the neoclassical
style. The current building is the result of the work of
numerous architects. The building is characterized by the huge central
dome that rises over a rotunda, connecting two
side wings that house the two branches of the
Congress. The north wing is occupied by the
Senate, the south wing by the House of
Representatives. The dome is surmounted by a
bronze statue of Liberty.

In 1983, the Foundation acquired the elegant Schmidt


House in Tumwater, built in 1904 for Olympia Brewing
Company founder Leopold Schmidt and his wife Johanna.

The picturesque gardens are graced


with indigenous gardens, reflecting
pools and graceful statues brought from
Europe by Leopold Schmidt.
OLYMPIC FLIGHT MUSEUM
Founded in 1998, the Olympic
Flight Museum is an aviation
museum at the Olympia
Airport in Olympia,
Washington, USA. The
museum has more than 10
vintage planes and helicopters
on display, most of which are
in airworthy condition. The
museum also hosts the annual
Olympic Air Show, featuring
a selection of heritage and
current military aircraft
demonstrations.

SPACE NEEDLE

SEATTLE AQUARIUM
The Space Needle is an
SPACE NEEDLE observation tower in Seattle,
Washington, United States.
Considered an icon of the city
and the Pacific Northwest, it has
been designated as Seattle's
landmark. Located in the Lower
Queen Anne neighborhood, it
was built in the Seattle Center
for the 1962 World's Fair. The
Space Needle features an
observation deck 160m above
the ground, offering views of the
downtown Seattle skyline, the
Olympic Mountains and the
Falls.
MUSEUM OF POP CULTURE

The museum of pop culture is a museum located in Seattle


dedicated to science fiction and popular music. The
building, designed by Frank Gehry, is located in the Seatte
Center, near the Space Needle and the Seattle Monorail
that runs through the building itself. The museum mainly
contains relics from the history of rock, with a particular
focus on all the bands and musicians originating in the city
and many other things and themes.
