Ladies and Gentlemen, We are gathered here today to remember Mr. Jay Gatsby. A man who
reached the American dream through his ambition and dedication. Coming from a humble start he
worked his way up from being a janitor to the lavish lifestyle we saw today. Beneath a persona of
confidence that he displayed to the public was a boy trying to create the life he always wanted.
One surrounded by the superficials of life that in his mind could block out the subpar reality he was
born into. Willing to risk everything for what he wanted whether that be his profession or the
relationships in his life. He stood as a figure for all nervous to pursue their dreams and push past
the negatives and stereotypes he was subjected to. Even though it stemmed from greed and
materialistic benefits he ignored these voices and managed to mass immense wealth and
success through his determination.
