Copia de The Overshoot Day
The overshoot day refers to a specific day in which humans have exhausted all the natural
resources that the Earth can regenerate for the year. This is calculated by the Global
Footprint Network in an effort to help the human economy to run within the Earth’s limits.
Biocapacity
Refers to the capacity of ecosystems to produce useful biological materials and to absorb
waste materials generated by humans.
Indirect - Includes the provision of essential life-sustaining ecological services, such as water
purification or a school desk.
Both are crucial to assess the relationship between human demand and the Earth's ability to
maintain said demand sustainably.
Ecological Footprint
It estimates the biologically productive land and sea needed to provide the renewable
resources that a population consumes and to absorb the wastes it generates.
What to do?
1. Reduce Your Use of Single-Use, Disposable Plastics.
2. Eat less meat.
3. Drive less.
4. Support local markets.
