0078 The pyramid of the Sun and the Moon.

"Place where men become gods", "Place where gods were made".
Located in Mexico in Teotihuacan, they were built in 200 BC. for the
Teotihuacan culture, these pyramids were used to sacrifice people to
pay homage to their gods.
Teotihuacán is recognized as cultural heritage by UNESCO.
Normally they sacrificed warriors and buried them in the foundations of
the pyramid with an offering, these warriors were young men.
The highest part of the pyramids are temples where sacrifices were
made to have a link with the gods.
The road of the dead is an avenue that crosses the sacred city
vertically, begins at the pyramid of the moon and ends at the Citadel
and the Tzacualli of Quetzalcóatl. It measures 45 km long and 40m
wide.
The pyramid of the sun measures 65 of high and the Pyramid of the
Moon measure 43 m of high.
The Teotihuacans had a polytheistic religion, some of the gods they
worshiped were Tlaloc (the god of rain) and Quetzalcóatl (The
feathered serpent, god of life, light, fertility, civilization and knowledge).
For other cultures Quetzalcóatl had another meaning.
The pyramid of the sun is oriented in the eastern part of the road of the
dead, whose use is unknown, it has five levels, it is on a tunnel
considered sacred.
The pyramid of the moon, built for Chalchiuhtlicue, located on the north
side of the road of the dead, is smaller than the pyramid of the sun, it
has no interior chambers and offerings to the gods were placed at its
base.
The outline of the pyramids is very precise and harmonious.
Further along the road of the dead you can see the temple of
Quetzalcóatl.
A few years ago visitors could climb the steps of the pyramids, but
seeing the deterioration of the pyramids due to the mistreatment of
visitors and the passage of time, it was prohibited for anyone to climb.
