SEMI-DETAILED 4A’S LESSON PLAN IN MATHEMATICS

I-Objectives:
At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:
a. illustrate the conditions of special right triangle theorems;
b. solve problems involving special triangles; and
c. show accuracy and carefulness in solving problems involving special right
triangles.

II- Subject Matter:

Learning Concept: Special Right Triangle Theorems.
Learning Reference: Mathematics 9 Learners Material Page 551-556
Learning Materials: Power point Presentation

III- Procedure

A. Moods of Learning
 Moods/Classroom Setting
 Greetings
 Checking of Attendance

B. Motivation
 Ask questions about right triangles.
 Give some examples of right triangle in real life.

C. Activity
Present the Special Right Triangles.

45º 60º

4 2√3

90º 45º 90º 30º

1.) 2.)

D. Analysis
1. Based on the given figures, what is their difference?
2.How many sides are unknown in the first figure? How about the second
figure?
3. Do you know how to get the missing/unknown sides?
4. What do you think is the formula in finding the unknown sides?

E. Abstraction
In a 45 ˚- 45 ˚- 90 ˚ triangle theorem, the legs are congruent. The length of the
hypotenuse is √2 times the length of a leg (h=√2a). And in 30 ˚- 60 ˚- 90 ˚
triangle theorem, the length of the hypotenuse is twice the length of the shorter
leg (h=2a). The length of the longer leg is √3 times the length of the shorter
leg (b=√3a).

45 ˚- 45 ˚- 90 ˚ triangle theorem 30 ˚- 60 ˚- 90 ˚ triangle theorem
h=√2a h=2a
h= √2 (4) or h= 4 .√2 h=2 (2√3)
h = 4√2 h=4√3
b=√3a
h=√2a 4= a or a= 4 b= √3 (2√3)
4√2= √2a b= 2√9
√2 √2 b= 2 (3)
b= 6
