Parents are their Child’s First Teachers

(Narrative Report on the Conduct of PAIR- Parents Assistance in Improving Reading)

Home is the child’s first school, the parent is the child’s first
teacher, and reading is the child’s first subject.
Parents play the most important role in helping a child to learn because they
know their child better than anyone. They can help their child more than anyone else.

Helping a child to read is very important because reading is the foundation for all
learning.

Children who are good readers get off to a good start in school. Kids who read
with their families develop a love for reading that lasts a lifetime.

Thus, the J. Cruz Sr. Elementary School English Department Team, established
and promoted PROJECT PAIR (Parents Assistance in Improving Reading) to further
encourage learning at home and reinforcing what is taught at school which is a critical
component of parent involvement- the participation of parents in regular, two-way, and
meaningful communication involving student academic learning and other school
activities.
When parents get involved in their children’s learning, they have a positive
influence on their children’s success throughout the school years.
Fired by this belief, we the JCSES teachers conducted a two-day seminar
workshop last October 20-22, 2022 at JCSES Mini Gym to hearten parents to become
more engaged in helping their kids become good readers.
A clearer view of what a child really needs to reach success in learning was set
and steps on how to stride on that ladder were cited for parents to note the ways to
support their child at home in the area of literacy.
CAPTURED MOMENTS OF WILLINGNESS. The Parents bound to the steps of fulfilling
their roles as child’s first and most important teacher!
