Instructions on how to prepare for a flight and how

to inspect aircraft before going airborne.

In this paragraph I’m going to talk about what every pilot but most importantly student pilot
should do before every flight, these instructions are important because it keeps us safe and
saves little bit of time, if these precautions are followed we minimize risk of an accident and we
also save some time

Required Materials:

 Web page AWWS (which is weather website)

 Dipstick
 Fuel tester
 Cleaning paper
 Bucket

Required skills/knowledge:

 Knowing the weather that day by just looking outside

 Knowing the lesson, you’re doing that day
 Knowing the plane you’re flying that day

Steps:
1. Day before your flight you will know what type of exercise you will be doing the next day,
so you should study for that lesson and come prepared to the flight school, this is very
important because it saves time during the briefing with the instructor

2. The day of the flight before you leave for the flight school you should look outside to
have a brief idea of if there’s any precipitation, wind or clouds outside

3. After that go on to AWWS and check the exact weather conditions that day

4. If the weather is flyable you can go to flying club if it’s not call your instructor or flight
club itself to cancel the booking
5. When you get to the flight club you should complete the weight and balance sheet of
the airplane ASAP to save time before your booking starts

6. After that you will have briefing with your instructor and after the briefing you should
head straight to the plane to start the walk-around

7. First step of the walk-around:

1. Sample the fuel with the fuel tester, from both wings, the fuel strainer, and the belly
tank. Check for debris, bubbles, and color. It should be light blue for a C150.

2. Take dipstick and check fuel levels on both wings after dumping fuel sampler into the
bucket

3. Check oil level and make sure it’s within operating capacity clean the oil tester with
paper and put it back in the oil tank

8. After that you should remove the tie downs from the aircraft as well as cowling cover
and pitot cover(cowling cover is the cover which goes around the fuselage pitot cover
covers airspeed instrument

9. Then comes the stuff in the cockpit you should check documents, fire extinguisher,
lights, first aid kit and control lock.

10. After you check inside things then external walk-around starts, go around the airplane in
one motion not all over the place this makes sure you didn’t miss anything, and it saves
time

11. First check the propeller for any dents cracks or scratches

12. Check tires if they’re well pumped with air and if they are warn off

13. Start going around the plane to check for any dents or cracks roll your fingers on the
body of the plane to be extra sure

I hope my instructions are helpful these things help us to save some time and make our flight as
safe as possible don’t forget to do everything in order look at the details make sure everything is
how it should be and fly safe.
