Worksheet Objectives:
1. Identify an organization and situation you want to study over the remainder of the course.
2. Describe the organization and the situation

Complete the following making sure to support your ideas and cite from the textbook and other
course materials per APA guidelines. After the peer review, you have a chance to update this and
format for your Electronic Portfolio due in Module 6.

1) Name and describe your organization.

I am active-duty army and have been for the past 18 years. The organization that I am
selecting is the 595th Military Police Company (595th MP CO) and is where I am
currently employed with. I am a military corrections supervisor by trade, and I have been
a part of this organization since November of 2023. The 595th MP Company is one of
four companies, that when combined, makes the 508th Military Police Battalion. This
Battalion is responsible for military corrections and manages the Northwest Joint
Regional Correctional Facility (NWJRCF), located on Joint Base Lewis McChord
(JBLM), Washington. The four-frame model fully applies to the 595th MP CO, the four
frame are described as “Structural, Human Resources, Political and Symbolic” (Bolman,
L. G., & Deal, T. E. (2021).

2) Describe your role in the organization (it can be an internal or external role).

I am an operations manager for the 595th MP CO, I do not work directly inside the
correctional facility, I hold an administrative supporting role for correctional officers and
the commanding officials of the organization. Operations managers function as decision
makers and directors of human resources when accomplishing organizational tasks.

3) Describe the situation, including information you think the will help the reader
understand the most important elements of the situation. (This will require
selectivity: part of the art of case writing is separating the essential facts from the
mass of information that might be included).

The current situation of the 595th MP CO is facing is deactivation. Meaning the

organization will cease to exist and be absorbed into another organization. The
deactivation of the military police company marks the end of a distinguished era of
service, reflecting a strategic shift in military resource allocation. Personnel within the

 2 company face a mix of nostalgia and uncertainty, as they transition to new roles or
civilian careers with the support of transition programs. Operationally, the deactivation
involves careful redistribution of equipment and responsibilities to maintain security and
discipline standards. The local community will miss the company's presence and
contributions to community outreach and collaboration with civilian law enforcement.
Strategically, this move aligns with broader efforts to optimize military readiness and
efficiency in response to evolving threats.
