1. General
This user manual describes details of testing SEL 700G relays with the OMICRON
Protection Testing Template. General information on the usage of OMICRON Protection Testing Library
items can be found in the OMICRON PTL user manual.

The template has been tested with the following relay:

Manufacturer: SEL
Model: 700G1
Setting Version: 007
Firmware Version: R301

1.1 Supported Relays

The following relays can be tested with the template:
• 700G0
• 700G1
• 700GT
• 700GW

Please consider the functional range of the template in chapter 4.

2. Software and Hardware Requirements

To use this template, you must have a valid test license for the OMICRON Test Universe 4.20 software or
higher versions and the following test modules:
• Control Center
• Quick CMC
• Overcurrent
• Ramping
• Pulse Ramping
• State Sequencer
• Advanced Distance
• Advanced Differential
• Advanced Power

Any CMC test set which provides 6 current outputs, can be used with this Protection Testing Template.

3. Hardware
There are multiple possibilities of wiring SEL 700G relay to a CMC test set. The advised connections are
shown in Figure 1. These connections are the default settings in the Hardware Configuration of the PTT.

5. XRIO Converter
The Test Object contains the SEL 700G XRIO Converter, which includes setting parameters of the
modelled protection relay. The setting parameters are built as an image of the AcSELerator QuickSet
software version 6.10.8.0 and the setting version 007.

The Import Filter for SEL 5030 .txt Settings can be used for importing settings into the Relay
Parameter section. The option "Include Unused and Invalid Settings" must be used while exporting
parameters from the AcSELerator software.

Some setting parameters can be set to "OFF" in the relay software. Instead of that, these parameters
have to be set to an infinity value (+inf) in the XRIO Converter. Consequently, the protection functions
that are disabled by setting them to "OFF" in the relay behave the same way in the converter.

5.1 Specialties of the Additional Information/Trip Logic Block

The Trip Logic Block can be generated automatically but should be checked and corrected manually if
necessary.

6. Specific Protection Tests

In this chapter the specific protection tests, which are not covered by the OMICRON PTT user manual,
are described.

6.1 Loss of Field

For testing the loss of field function, the OMICRON Advanced Distance test module is used. This
module enables testing of the operating characteristics as well as the trip times of the elements.

Note: Please set the test points as shown in the following figure. Use the A-B-C fault loop for testing.
