Update
RADAN CAD/CAM 2022.0 and Radbend 2022.0
Introduction
The update instructions will guide you through updating to RADAN | CAD/CAM 2022.0 and RADAN |
Radbend 2022.0.
Important Information
RADAN licensing is based around Sentinel RMS, which either uses some of your computer’s
hardware or a CLS Token (dongle) to identify the PC which manages the RADAN Licenses. This
means that any changes to your hardware or a change to a new server will mean that you may need
to transfer the license. Always contact support beforehand to discuss.
System Requirements
(http://www.radan.com/systemrequirements)
This is a recommended minimum specification based upon our knowledge of the RADAN software.
RADAN | CAD/CAM
• Pentium 4, 2 GHz CPU or greater
• 20 GB available storage
• Available RS232 Serial ports (one port per machine requiring RS232 serial DNC)
Note: This PC specification also applies when configured as a PC DNC, Radview DNC client
computer.
• 40 GB available storage
• Dedicated graphics card capable of 1024 x 768 minimum resolution (32bit mode)
• Available RS232 Serial ports (one port per machine requiring RS232 serial DNC)
• Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows® Server 2012, Windows® Server 2016
Only 64bit versions are supported. Professional / Business versions of the operating systems
are recommended
Important Note
• Microsoft has ended extended support for Windows 7 in January 2020. Hexagon’s Production Software will
officially support Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 for the supported life of the 2020 product releases. As our key
component suppliers start to withdraw support for Windows 7 and Windows 8.1, our 2022.0 release will not
officially support these platforms. Please consider updating your operating system to make sure you are running
your favourite software on a tested and supported platform.
• Windows Server 2016 can have many different flavours and options (e.g. Nano, microservices, containers). We
know of no reason why the RADAN software wouldn’t run on Windows Server running in a desktop environment
Additional Notes
• A Virtual Server will need a USB CLS Token (dongle) at an additional cost if it is to run as a license server.
Please be aware not all Virtualisations can support USB Tokens.
• A USB port must be available if the PC is going to be licensed from a CLS Token (dongle).
• Software and subsequent updates will only be available for download from the Customer Portal.
• If the customer purchases RADAN's installation service, it is their responsibility to make sure the IT
structure/hardware is suitable based on system requirements above. The RADAN engineer will require any PC to
have a supported Windows O/S, Administrative Rights and network access (if using network applications) to be
able to install and configure RADAN software.
• Application performance is dependent upon several factors e.g. Number of used applications or network traffic.
Should you require further clarification, please contact your IT provider.
• CPU Processor must the support SSE2 instruction set, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SSE2

License File
The installation process will try to connect to our servers via the internet and automatically download
the license file. The licensing system uses a ‘lock code’ to identify your PC which will become the
RADAN license server and is made up of your network card address and hard disk and is unique to
your PC.
If you have an internet connection on the PC you are installing the software on, this ‘lock code’ will
be sent to our server, together with details about your ‘Server Code’. Our server will then send back
the license file.
If you do not have an internet connection on the server you are installing the software on, you will be
asked to follow the manual procedure to obtain a license file. After the license file has been
downloaded or you have selected the license file in the installation screen, the RMS licensing
software will be installed and the RADAN installation will continue.
NB: the lock code is generated from hardware components in the PC; this means that if you decide
to make any changes to the PC hardware or intend to change the PC you use as the RADAN
License Server, you will need to contact us.
The Update
The installation can be started by extracting the download and double clicking StartHere.hta.
Update
After the license file has been downloaded or you have selected the license file in the installation
screen.
Software Test
Now, test your software. To do this, you may need to configure the network licenses for this user –

Update
Radbend 2022.0
There are five types of installation:
• Standalone; Standalone installation is used when licenses, “Data” and software is installed on the same PC
• Server; Server installation only installs the (RMS) license server and creates a “Data” folder that needs to be
shared manually. If you already have a license server installed (by the RADAN 2022.0 installation) and have
already the “Data” folder on a network share you can skip the server installation
• Client; Client installation installs the software and will ask you after the installation what license server to use and
where the “Data” folder can be found
• Smbviewer; Smbviewer installation is a client installation for installing the viewer for simulating the bend programs
• Custom
A ‘Server Code’ has been provided in your software delivery note. This also indicates if it is a
Network or standalone License.
Update
If the selected License Server has already a valid license file you are ready, if not you enter the
Server code.
If you follow the instructions the wizard will try to connect to our servers via the internet and
automatically download the license file. The licensing system uses a ‘lock code’ to identify your PC
which will become the RADAN license server and is made up of your network card address and hard
disk and is unique to your PC.
After the license file has been
downloaded or you have selected the license file in the wizard the product is licensed.
Note: the lock code is generated from hardware components in the PC; this means that if you decide
to make any changes to the PC hardware or intend to change the PC you use as the RADAN
License Server, you will need to contact us.
License Profiles
Before you can start the software, you will need to specify which licenses you want to use. This is
called a license profile and it is specific to a user. A Radbend user needs at least BENDCAM and
probably CAD4CAM and specific translators.
Customer data
The customer “Data” is supplied in a zip file (*.zip or *tar.gz) and is revered to as “customer files”
during a server or standalone installation. You can however unzip this file to any folder manually and
select this folder the first time you start the software.
Radbend will usually be installed by a RADAN engineer; it is, however, straightforward for a user to
install the software.
Update
Updates
Updates are usually detected automatically when running the Radbend setup. If the CLS license
server is already up to date by updating RADAN 2022.0 there is no need to update Radbend on the
server.

Configure Network Licenses – User Guide
A System is an item that will ‘run’ by itself, such as the main RADAN 2D CAD application or DNC
(PC-DNC). There always needs to be one System license Reserved.
A Module is an item that needs a running System to be able to be used, such as a nesting license,
3D or a 3D translator. Module licenses can be Optional or Reserved.
License Profiles
It is possible to configure a set of licenses and then save them as a ‘License Profile’. These profiles
can be then used by Client PCs as required. Refer to the CLS help for more information.
If the option ‘Use License Profiles’ is off, then CLS will use the default profile that can apply to all
users.
On starting the software for the first time without a license profile set the ‘Configure Network
Licenses’ dialog will be loaded.
The ‘Configure Network Licenses’ dialog can also be accessed from RADAN SystemInfo or via the
RADAN 2022.0 License Manager found in Start > RADAN Software.
Systems
In the dialog select a System license and click « Reserved (the list on the left shows the licenses
you have selected for your license profile).
NB. Once you have Reserved a System license the list on the right may show additional
Modules. You can only select a Module after you have selected a System license that allows
use of that Module.
Configure Network Licenses – User Guide
Modules
You can add any Module to your license profile as either ‘Reserved’ or ‘Optional’.
Reserved – any Modules you Reserve will be taken as soon as the software starts, and that license
will not be available to any other user until you exit the software. Any Reserved license that is not
available (e.g. is in use by another user) will prevent you from starting the software.
Optional – any Modules that are Optional are not taken until you access the software that uses that
Module. E.g. in the license profile shown above, the 3D license is Optional so will not be taken until
you enter 3D; up to that moment, any other user can take that license, possibly denying you that
license.
These instructions are displayed because the PC on which the software was installed does not have
Internet access. Please print or copy these instructions to another PC that has Internet access and
follow the steps below.
• Lock Code; this is the code that is also shown on the installation screen
License Download
Start your Internet Browser and go to:
https://customers.verosoftware.com/Public/Licensing/LicenceActivation.aspx
Configure Network Licenses – User Guide
• Enter the details; including an e-mail address if you wish to receive the license file by e-mail (this is optional).
• Press Generate License. This will show you the details of the license and a link to download the file.
• Transfer the file to the server where you are performing the installation and select it during the installation
process.
