FULL ESSAY:
The six pie charts describe water usage, in percentage, for agriculture, industrial and
domestic sectors in different parts of the world.
Overall, water is mostly used for agriculture. Only in two areas is it mainly used for
industry. It is also noticeable that the proportion of water for households is always the
smallest in the industrialized regions.
According to the charts, how water is used in North America and Europe shows exactly
the same pattern. The highest and lowest proportions in these regions are for the
industrial use, (approximately half of the total water usage, each) and for households
(around one tenth, each).
Meanwhile, in Southeast Asia, although the lowest proportion is also for the domestic
sector (7%), the highest is allocated for agriculture, comprising 81% of its total water.
In two other agrarian sectors, namely Central Asia and Africa, the percentage used for
agriculture is only slightly higher than in Southeast Asia, whereas the proportion used
in industry, which is the lowest, stands at about 9%, each. Similarly, South America use
the biggest and lowest proportions of water in these two sectors; however, the
percentage is rather different.
