INTRODUCTION
EPP plays a vital role in the holistic development of students by providing them with essential life skills
such as cooking, sewing, gardening, and basic carpentry. These skills are not only practical but also
empower students to become self-reliant and resourceful individuals. In the intermediate level, students
are at a crucial stage of their educational journey where they are preparing for higher education or
entering the workforce. Therefore, teaching EPP in the intermediate level is essential to equip students
with the skills they need to succeed in their future endeavors.
While EPP is a valuable subject, teaching it effectively in the intermediate level can be challenging. One
of the main challenges is the language barrier, as students may come from different linguistic
backgrounds and proficiency levels. Using a combination of Mother tongue, Filipino, and English as a
medium of instruction can help bridge this gap and ensure that all students are able to comprehend and
participate in the lessons effectively. Additionally, the complexity of the skills taught in EPP at the
intermediate level requires innovative teaching methods that cater to the diverse learning styles of
students.
Need for Innovative Teaching Strategies
In order to effectively teach EPP in the intermediate level, teachers need to employ innovative teaching
strategies that engage students and make the lessons more interactive and relatable. Incorporating hands-
on activities, group projects, and real-life scenarios can help students connect theoretical concepts to
practical applications. Furthermore, using a combination of Mother tongue, Filipino, and English as a
medium of instruction can help students better understand and internalize the lessons, as they are able to
learn in a language that they are most comfortable with.
