James Kench - A Eulogy For Jay Gatsby
James Kench - A Eulogy For Jay Gatsby
Write a brief eulogy (at least 8 sentences) for Jay Gatsby. Include
some specific descriptions of his life and who he was as a
person. In this eulogy, try to send a message about how Gatsby
should be remembered.
We are gathered here today to remember Mr. Jay Gatsby. The man who had a big heart, and an
even bigger house. His legacy is nothing short of profound, following his work on a boat as a kid,
and subsequently followed by the wealth that would follow. The mysterious man whom we know
to be Gatsby, although quiet-seeming and awkward at first, he really cared about those who were
close to him. One would think having wealth would cloud the quality of a man’s heart, but that was
not the case for Old Sport Gatsby. He often held elaborate festivities for those in the neighborhood
to enjoy, despite not partaking in the festivities. The man would put the desires and happiness of
those around him above his own and would attempt to use his wealth to please those around him.
Despite being the talk of the town, and having a famous presence in the Eggs, he took the time to
get to know the guests of his parties, not only to be a good host, but because he had a great soul.
