6 Supporting the Crane on Outriggers from the Crane

Operator’s Cab (optional)

The crane should generally be supported on outriggers by

adjusting the operating elements located in the ladders (see
Section 12, chassis). It is, however, possible to operate the
outriggers from the superstructure cab for re-levelling the
crane.

This is only permitted in exceptional circumstances when the

crane operator has a clear view of all the outriggers.
(If necessary, employ a banksman).

Support the crane as follows:

(Z 501 034, Z 501 212)

- Slew the superstructure to the rear (see Section 8) and lock

the superstructure with actuating lever (11).
- Apply tthe slew gear parking brake (115, S14).
- Actuate button (36, S 804) to release the outriggers.
- Retract or extend the outrigger cylinders using self-return
rocker switch (34, S 801) together with self-return rocker
switch (35, S 802) or (37, S 803).
(The symbols located on and beside the buttons indicate
each of the outriggers to be moved.)

There is a danger of crushing in the area between the tyres

and the base if the crane is lowered directly onto the tyres
when retracting the outriggers.
Ensure that no persons enter this area before lowering the
crane.

Provided that your crane is equipped with button (38, S 805),

the outriggers can also be moved horizontally using buttons
(35, S 802) or (37, S 803).

The crane may only be driven within an area where all the
outrigger struts can be seen by the crane operator, either
directly or by using the mirrors. Check the position of the
mirrors before operating the outrigger struts.
