Mock Job Interview Activity

Objective:

Prepare students for real-world job interviews by simulating an interview experience, enhancing their
communication skills, and providing constructive feedback.

Criteria for Mock Job Interview (Total: 25 points)

1. Preparation and Research (5 points)

Excellent (5 points): Thoroughly researched the company and position; resume and cover letter are
professional and tailored and dressed professionally

Good (4 points): Adequately researched the company and position; resume and cover letter are good
but could be more tailored and dressed professionally.

Satisfactory (3 points): Minimal research on the company and position; resume and cover letter are
somewhat generic and dressed professionally.

Needs Improvement (2-0 points): Little to no research on the company and position; resume and cover
letter are unprofessional and wearing inappropriate clothing for a job interview.

2. Communication Skills (5 points)

Excellent (5 points): Clearly and confidently answers questions; uses professional language and tone.

Good (4 points): Answers questions clearly but may lack some confidence; generally uses professional
language and tone.

Satisfactory (3 points): Answers some questions clearly; occasional use of informal language or tone.

Needs Improvement (2-0 points): Struggles to answer questions clearly; frequently uses informal
language or tone.

3. Content of Responses (5 points)

Excellent (5 points): Responses are thorough, relevant, and demonstrate a deep understanding of the
role.

Good (4 points): Responses are relevant and demonstrate a good understanding of the role.

Satisfactory (3 points): Responses are somewhat relevant but lack depth or understanding.

Needs Improvement (2-0 points): Responses are irrelevant, vague, or show little understanding of the
role.

4. Body Language (5 points)

Excellent (5 points): Maintains eye contact, good posture, and appropriate gestures consistently.
Good (4 points): Maintains eye contact and good posture most of the time; uses some appropriate
gestures.

Satisfactory (3 points): Occasionally maintains eye contact and good posture; uses few appropriate
gestures.

Needs Improvement (2-0 points): Rarely maintains eye contact; poor posture; little to no use of
appropriate gestures.

5. Professionalism and Handling Difficult Questions (5 points)

Excellent (5 points): Demonstrates a high level of professionalism; handles difficult questions with poise
and provides thoughtful answers.

Good (4 points): Demonstrates professionalism with minor lapses; handles difficult questions reasonably
well.

Satisfactory (3 points): Shows some professionalism but with noticeable lapses; struggles with difficult
questions.

Needs Improvement (2-0 points): Lacks professionalism; unable to handle difficult questions effectively.

Total: 25 points

Grading Scale:

A (22-25 points): Excellent performance

B (18-21 points): Good performance

C (14-17 points): Satisfactory performance
