PROJECT LOON

NAME : ABHISHEK MALEKOPPA

USN: 2KE17IS001 ,
ROLL NO: 02
GUIDE: MAHANTESH SAJJAN

ABSTRACT
Project Loon is an ingenious initiative by Google to provide a wireless network to remote
areas thus providing Internet access to 4.5 billion people who are currently offline. This
technology involves the use of specially designed helium balloons launched in the
stratosphere, which work in coordination with each other and the ground antenna based on
complex algorithms, thus aiming to provide a cost effective yet reliable and environment-
friendly way to beam the Internet from the sky to places lacking it.
These balloons have been launched at an altitude of 20km in the stratosphere. These are
positioned twice as high as where the airplanes fly and weather changes occur. The winds
there are steady and below 20mph and is perfect for solar panels as the clouds are absent.
This preternatural phenomenon thus aims at innovating the connectivity worldwide.
