(1) Write the system as an augmented matrix.

(3) Find the solution of the system.
II. (35 pts)
Consider the matrices

(1) Compute the matrix P Q.
(2) Find the determinant of P and deduce that P is invertible.
(3) Show that  

(5) Find a 3 × 3 matrix A satisfying
(A3 + QT )−1 = P
III. (30 pts)
Consider the following system 
x + y + z = 7

x + 2y + 3z = 10

x + 2y + hz = k
(1) Find the value of h, k for which the system of equations is inconsistent.
(2) Find the value of h, k for which the system of equations has infinitely many solutions.
(3) Find the value of h, k for which the system of equations has only one solution.
IV. (15 pts)
Let A be non-zero square matrix.
(1) Show that if A2 − 3A + I = 0, then A is invertible and A−1 = 3I − A.
(2) Show that if A2 = 0 then A is not invertible.
