Digital Transformation in Supply Chain

Introduction
Supply chain management is the handling of the entire production flow of a good or service -
starting from the raw materials for manufacturing all the way to delivering the final product to
the consumer.Digital supply chain is an intelligent value driven network that leverages new
techniques and methods with data analytics and machine learning algorithms to draw insights
from data, which is provided from the market end as well as the supplier end.
Every supply chain planning solution starts with the collection of required data and converting
that data into knowledge using analytics and efficient ML algorithms.Planning solutions on o9
platform is very much efficient because of its capabilities like connecting suppliers and
customers digitally, big data storage, real-time APIs, Enterprise knowledge graph (EKG),
responsiveness, ML analytics, scenario planning, post game analysis, demand and supply match
algorithms etc.

Motivation
According to a recent survey, 65% of companies are still using spreadsheets in planning their
supply chain process, and while they are familiar, inexpensive, and convenient relying on
spreadsheets pose serious setbacks for organizations leading to great loss and not meeting upto
the customers expectation.
Also In Online Analytic Processing(OLAP) and Traditional supply chain platform model is rigid,
therefore so much small detail required to the lowest level which means unnecessary calculation
and fake data.Where as in o9 platform graph based model are linked so no need to model to the
lowest level and therefore fake details can be avoided.Modelling Supply chain solution with
latest technologies to meet the forecasted demand, match demand and supply, maintaining
inventory, minimize the production and delivery or transportation costs which increases an
organization’s revenue and consistently meet the customer’s requirement.

Objectives
 The main objective of the internship is to provide the interns with an in-depth insight into the
functional as well as technical capabilities of the o9 Platform
 To give us hands on experience on modelling solutions on an enterprise knowledge graph to
better understand business planning.
 To gain a better understanding of the technical requirements that are to be satisfied by the
input data. This means the ETL pipeline for data cleansing, followed by transforming the
data into a format that the EKG can process.
 Handling large amount of complex data and connecting customers and suppliers digitally.
 The final objective is to optimize a client’s supply chain with better demand forecasting and
modelling, enabled by the GraphCube model.

Digital Transformation in Supply Chain

Methodology

• Given above is a graphical representation of the Enterprise Knowledge Graph.

• EKG is the digital brain of the o9 Platform that allows us to model the client’s supply chain
at appropriate levels of granularity.
• The EKG serves to optimize the supply chain through appropriate modelling and integration
of different planning methodologies into a single platform.
• The Enterprise Knowledge Graph takes in data from both the market as well as the supplier
end.
• Before the data can be used, it has to undergo processing and cleansing via various ETL
methods.
• The data is then used to model different sections of the supply chain to better understand the
entire system, and eventually convert the raw data into useful knowledge.
• The modelling is done using o9’s GraphCube Engine. The platform also allows one to view
and analyze the data on MS Excel through the o9 Excel Add-in.
• The graph can forecast a certain output for any given situation with the help of AI.

Hardware / Software tools used

The following software will be used through the course of this project
1. Microsoft Excel
2. R Programming
3. SQL
4. SQL Server Integration Services
5. The o9 IBP Platform
