Writing Contest
We are looking for creativity and originality in the entries.
We look forward to reading poems or stories about what makes you most proud of your community.

Categories: Awards: A total of 9 prizes

Primary School: Gr 5 and below 1st Place: $200
Middle School: Gr 6 to 8 2nd Place: $150
High School: Gr 9 to 12 rd
3 Place: $100

Contest Rules:
✓ One submission per applicant. Maximum 300 words
✓ You must live or attend a school in Peel (open to all students)
✓ Only provide your name, school and grade where indicated in the form.
✓ Please do not include your name, school and grade in your story
✓ All stories will be published on our website for all to read
✓ Finalists will be contacted through school staff to provide an audio recording of them
reading their stories
✓ Winners for each category will be determined by audience vote during our Black History
Celebration on Feb 24, 2023 from 6 – 8pm at the Malton Community Center
