Bill Gates is an American business magnate. He is one of the richest people in the world.
In 1975, he co-founded Microsoft, the world’s largest PC software company. During his
career, Gates has held the positions of chairman, CEO and chief software architect. He has
invested in other businesses outside Microsoft, including Corbis, a digital media company.
Gates has also written several books about business and technology.

Bill Gates married Melinda French on January 1, 1994. They have three children and live
in a large house in the side of a hill in Washington, USA. The house took 7 years to build
and cost $63.2 million.

During the later stages of his career, Gates became a philanthropist. In 2000, he
established the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation with his wife Melinda. They have given
large amounts of money to different charities and research organisations. In June 2006,
Gates decided to work part-time for Microsoft in order to do full-time work at the Bill &
Melinda Gates Foundation.
