Dear Rachel,
On behalf of the Board of Governors and everyone in Pennsylvania’s State System of Higher
Education, we want to extend our most sincere congratulations on your appointment as a
student member of the PennWest Clarion University Council of Trustees. In a very real
sense, you will be on the front-line of our efforts to redesign the State System to ensure that we
are able to serve our students, our communities, and our Commonwealth far into the future.
These are exciting times in the State System. Being a trustee requires more than just service to
your own university; your contributions will have a broader impact on the entire State System.
Because of selfless, dedicated leaders such as yourself who have agreed to be part of our
cause, we are charting a more sustainable course for the future, and you will play an important
role in that effort.
ACTION REQUIRED: To make your appointment official, you must take the Oath of Office
and complete the attached form in the presence of a Pennsylvania-registered Notary
Public. You cannot perform any powers or duties of your public office until the oath has
been taken. Email a copy to board@passhe.edu, and mail the original, notarized form to:
• As a member of the Council of Trustees, you are subject to the Public Official and
Employee Ethics Act (66 Pa. C.S. §§ I IO I et. seq.). It is important that you take the time
to review this document, which provides ethical guidelines for your public position.
• In your specific public position, you will be required to file by May 1st of each year a
financial disclosure form under the ethics act. The Statement of Financial Interests form
will be provided to you by your board or commission.
